Brady Quinn finally makes it to the Dolphins

Brady

Brady Quinn is finally a Dolphin, just eight years late.

Their newest quarterback admitted upon arrival he thought he was going to be drafted by the team in 2007, but they instead selected wide receiver Ted Ginn.

I had heard word from a very, very good source that something was going to happen [with the Dolphins] the next day,” Quinn said, via Adam Beasley of the Miami Herald. “We had heard a lot of things before the draft. You never really know what to believe or who to believe, so obviously that didn’t take place. It’s just a story now.”

One with plenty of twists and turns. The Dolphins picked Ginn ninth overall, while Quinn was sentenced to the Browns with the 22nd pick. If they had taken Quinn then, it would have been with the expectation he’d be a franchise-changer. Now, he has the more comfortable position of coming in and competing for the second or third job with his seventh team in eight seasons.

“It’s kind of crazy to think almost eight years later now, I finally made it here,” Quinn said.

It’s also crazy to look back on that draft and realize how bad it was, with JaMarcus Russell at the top. That almost makes the Dolphins look smart by comparison for the Ginn pick.
