Rams’ Isaiah Pead suffers leg injury

Rams running back Isaiah Pead suffered a leg injury and left today’s preseason game against the Packers.

Pead sustained the injury while he was running back a kickoff in the first quarter. Pead wasn’t touched on the play; he simply planted his foot on the turf and his knee bent awkwardly, and he went down.

On the sideline Pead was seen getting help from trainers, and he appeared to be in pain and unable to put weight on his leg. He was later taken to the locker room on a cart.

A 2012 second-round draft pick, Pead has so far fallen short of expectations, with just 17 carries for 75 yards in his career. Pead needed a good preseason to show that he deserved a roster spot in a backfield that also features Zac Stacy, Benny Cunningham and rookie Tre Mason. This injury won’t do anything to help Pead’s chances of being there when the Rams open the regular season.

  1. Sorry for the injury. Hope he’s okay.

Packer offense really looked mid-season sharp in their first drive.

  2. Bad break, but he was bust anyway, like most of the guys the Rams got in the RG3 deal. Should have just taken him.

  3. Injuries are always unfortunate, but Pead has done zippo for the Rams, and he has proven to be the biggest misfire on Les Snead’s draft board (most picks have been great, in my opinion, but this one was the ultimate dud.)

The only time Pead’s name was called last year was for a taunting penalty on a kickoff.

  4. can’t call any RB a bust with just 17 carries – wayyy too early to tell – he was exceptional back at UC

  5. Greg Robinson, Alec Ogletree, Stedman Bailey, Zac Stacy, Michael Brockers, Janoris Jenkins, Isaiah Pead and Rokevious Watkins. Yeah, the Rams got the worst of that trade, they got two busts and the Redskins got one.
