Steelers claim a corner the Cowboys didn’t want — really

Friday afternoon is the time to drop shocking news in the NFL, in hopes that no one notices.

Thus, someone claimed a defensive player the Cowboys didn’t want off waivers.

The Steelers announced they claimed cornerback B.W. Webb off waivers, and placed linebacker Jordan Zumwalt on injured reserve.

The 2013 fourth-round pick was best known for having a helmet swung at him during a joint practice with the Raiders.

To be honest, that’s probably a bad sign for a recent fourth-round pick for a team that stinks on defense.

  1. The Steelers have had one of the top defenses in the league for most of the last two decades. It would be reasonable to assume they know how to asses available talent.

  2. The Cowboys also let DeMarcus Ware go. Does that clown show really know what it’s doing???

They also didn’t even try to re-sign Jason Hatcher.

What if their trash is Pittsburgh’s treasure??

Also, BW Webb plays special teams and had a -0.3 rating for his 2014 Preseason per Profootballfocus.

  3. The Colts tanked the 2011 season, but Andrew Luck is a bust, and Jim Irsay is a druggie. The entire Colts organization and their fans should be ashamed. says: Aug 29, 2014 5:32 PM

The Steelers can stink on defense. It doesn’t matter because they’ve got someone no NFL team can beat. His name is Bill Leavy.

Yeah, Leavy and his crew really helped the Steelers last January when he gift-wrapped a win for the Chargers against the Chiefs which kept the Steelers out of the playoffs.

Suckhawks fans really need to stop bleeding on their feminine napkins about SB XL already…

  4. .
The Steelers would be wise to claim all the CB’s they can.. They need help in their secondary.

  5. Last year the Cowboys D was terrible. This year it’s a wait and see because there are many new faces. Spencer, Ratliff were bad timing losses; Ware was a shell of himself playing thru too many injuries to be effective; Lee missed most of season too – this time, they’ve had time to adjust: Melton, Crawford, McClain x2, Lawrence at midseason, possibly a healthy Claiborne, etc. – point is… these authors with their bandwagon opinions are so lame – yes, it may be a hard to watch work in progress – or it may work out fine – STOP DRAWING CONCLUSIONS BASED ON WHAT’S OUT THERE!!

    t’is all…

  6. Web went to William and Mary as did coach Tomlin and he liked him last year so this is not a surprise. Webb can play.

But he can’t make it on the Cowboys’ defense…..
keep trypng to spin this one skippy.

    Super Bowl Camps

    Go Hawks!

  7. The Seahawks were a joke in 05. Willie Parker ran down their throat and Hines wiped the floor with them. Randal El stopped them and most of all the Sea chicken receivers couldn’t catch without pushing off. I love the fact that the pathetic fans can’t get over it. Almost a decade later. Sorry that you guys were horrible. I guess.

  8. Alright, I looked around for info on this, and there’s a bunch of it. Yeah, Tomlin and Webb both went to William & Mary. They also both grew up in Newport News, Virginia, and Webb helps out at Tomlin’s yearly football camp. The Steelers also had cb Brice McCain get hurt against Carolina, so they could use another slot corner even if only temporarily.

Webb also made a predraft visit to Pittsburgh in 2013, and the Cowboys drafted Webb one pick before the Steelers drafted Landry Jones, who I read is apparently and ironically named after Tom Landry. Which means the Steelers would have probably drafted Webb instead of not only Jones, but draft bust 5th round pick Terry Hawthorne last year. Also, Landry Jones sucks, but that’s besides the point.

So yeah. The Steelers signed Webb. Of course they did!

  9. As much as you trolls entertain me and make me laugh, nothing beats coming to a forum and reading intelligent information about football. Again, thanks Clash. Keep your posts coming.

Brother, I’m a die hard Steelers fan. But people like you are why so man fans around the league hate us… your ignorant. The Hawks had the number one offense in the league in 05, also I won’t say the they should have won the game like the equally ignorant Seahawks fans, however that game was FULL on blown calls! Football is a game of momentum, who knows who would have won that game had it been called properly.

  11. Never hurts to see what this kid Webb brings to the table. If Cortez Allen produces like he should the Steelers secondary will be just fine. 11-5 Division winners.

  13. Leavy didn’t help the the seahawaks lose superbowl XL. Calls are calls and they are made every week in the National Football League. The few calls Leavy is talking about could have been called either way. For a number one offense, the seahawks didn’t do squat that game. The steelers shut them down when they needed to and the offense made just enough plays to prevail in victory. I sure didnt see seattle stop Hines Ward or Willie Parker when they needed to. Seahawk fans need to get over it already. Its been 10 years. They lost.
