The 49ers have re-signed seven players they waived Saturday to the practice squad, the team said Sunday.
Second-year defensive lineman Lawrence Okoye, the star British discus thrower turned football player, is among those added to the Niners’ practice squad after being released Saturday.
Just 22 years old, Okoye appeared in all four of San Francisco’s exhibition games. The club originally signed him last year, and he spent the 2013 season on injured reserve.
Also re-signed by San Francisco were offensive tackle Carter Bykowski, tight end Asante Cleveland, wide receiver Lance Lewis, nose tackle Mike Purcell and linebackers Shayne Skov and Chase Thomas.
The 49ers have three open spots on their practice squad.
