Devon Still returns to Bengals practice squad

It’s safe to say that the Bengals didn’t draft defensive tackle Devon Still in the second round of the 2012 draft so that he’d be on their practice squad in 2014, but at least they still have him in the organization in the event he lives up to his earlier promise.

Still was one of nine players signed to the Bengals practice squad on Sunday. Seven of the other eight were also with the Bengals this summer, but the team reached outside the organization to sign tight end Kevin Greene. Greene was cut by the 49ers when they dropped to 75 players last week and played his college ball at USC.

Defensive end Sam Montgomery, center Trevor Robinson, running back James Wilder Jr., tackle Dan France, defensive tackle David King, wide receiver Colin Lockett and cornerback Onterio McCalebb are the other returning Bengals.

Cincinnati still has room to add one more player to the practice squad.

  1. Shameful to report about this without mentioning what Still is going through with his daughter. It’s probably a big reason why he’s on the PS instead of the 53. He can’t concentrate and needs more time with her.

  2. I imagine he even turned down offers to be on other teams 53 since she is being treated @ Children’s in Cincinnati. Remember he was going to retire until she was accepted there.

  3. Thoughts and prayers to the Still family. Here’s hoping the next year brings healing to your daughter and that you are in a much better place next year.

  4. So easy to be critical when you believe a player’s life begins and ends inside the lines. Still and his family deserve prayers and healing thoughts, not critical and sarcastic comments.

  5. I’m very honored that The Cincinnati Bengals organization and Fans have shown such sincere compassion for this young Father and his very difficult challenge. Regardless of the outcome, cheers to all who recognized this can be greater than, “…business as usual.”
