Bears place Marquess Wilson on injured reserve/recall

If Marquess Wilson is to return to the Bears’ lineup, it will have to be after midseason.

The club has placed Wilson, the second-year wide receiver from Washington State, on injured reserve with a designation to be recalled, the club announced.

The 21-year-old Wilson suffered a broken collarbone early in training camp. He was expected to compete for the club’s No. 3 receiver role.

With Wilson’s roster spot open for the time being, the Bears re-signed cornerback Kelvin Hayden, who was released on Saturday. The 31-year-old Hayden missed the 2013 season with a torn hamstring, but he appeared in 16 games (two starts) for Chicago two seasons ago.

  1. …So we have to wait until after the bye week to see Marquess Wilson shred Green Bay’s secondary?
    Okay.

  2. I’m glad Wilson’s not gone for the year and that Hayden returned. Since he’s back, I’d like to hear Trestman or Tucker discuss why Kelvin isn’t a safety conversion candidate like other aging CBs.

  3. I don’t know if this move was necessary considering it was just a broken collarbone and it’s been 4 weeks since the injury but it does open up a roster spot.

  4. I would have rather they brought back Britton too. Between Fuller and Frey on the practice squad we have plenty of depth at CB. But on the OL and especially at OT, not so much.

  5. Hayden’s a baller. When healthy he was actually quite effective in 2012 before the hamstring issues. Who’s to say they don’t bring Britton back after week 1? Emery did this to Rosario once, albeit for some type of team infraction, earlier this offseason.

  6. Hope Wilson heals fully, no ned to rush him back…I’m still bummed they gave up on Chris Williams so quickly.
