Andre Ellington will be a game-time decision Monday night

The Cardinals still don’t know if running back Andre Ellington will play on Monday night, and they won’t know until Monday night.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said Ellington was limited in practice today and will be a game-time decision on Monday night against the Chargers.

Ellington has been dealing with a foot injury, and there have been conflicting reports about the severity of that injury. Some reports have said Ellington could miss significant time, while others have said the injury is relatively minor. The fact that Arians expressed some optimism about Ellington playing on Monday suggests that the injury isn’t as severe as previously feared.

Arians also said second-year defensive back Tyrann Mathieu, whose 2013 season was cut short by a torn ACL, will be a game-time decision on Monday night.

  1. If he’s not 100%, HOLD HIM OUT!

It’s Week 1 and you guys have a Week 4 bye. No need to risk it in a non-conference home game if he’s not 100%.

But if he is healthy….LET ‘ER RIP!

I think talk of Ellington being injury prone in college is overblown. In his final two seasons at Clemson, he had 471 carries/receptions in 26 games.

Ellington dropped to the 6th round of the draft because he tweaked a hammy at the combine which led to a slower 40 time than anticipated.

  3. Glad Ellington doesn’t seem as bad off as feared. But why would Mathieu be a game time decision coming off an ACL? Wouldn’t they want to be really sure he can play before putting him at risk? Maybe it’s all disinformation, who knows.

  4. The only person that needs to sit Monday night is Eli Manning. You know Suh will one handed body slam him and get some kind of mean person interference call.

  5. Thank god I also have Ryan Mathews on my team. I don’t have to make any rash decisions. Just wait until right before kickoff and switch if I need to.

  6. This team is snake bitten this year…they were going to be a playoff team…still a talented team but too much to overcome in a tough division…funny the fools that think different

A lot better than him showing up in a boot, or not at all.

Too bad the Giants aren’t in week one or they could just sit him.

Sounds like it will be the Cards making excuses for Ellington, rather than the Bolts making excuses for Gates. Unlike the Cards, we’ve got depth and Ladarius Green steps in to 1st TE and adds speed at the position. Which no-namer RB are you going to sub out for your starting no-namer RB?

  8. With a 10:00 Monday night game and no other options that late I have to sit him looks like I’m playing CJK2 as my RB2, oh we’ll.
