The Buccaneers signed two players and released two players Saturday, promoting cornerback Brandon Dixon and wide receiver Solomon Patton from the practice squad and parting ways with wideout Louis Murphy and corner Quinton Pointer.

The moves were disclosed in the NFL’s Saturday transactions.

Dixon (5-11, 203) was signed to the Buccaneers’ practice squad on Monday. A rookie from Northwestern Missouri State, Dixon was a sixth-round pick of the Jets in May.

Patton (5-9, 177) is an undrafted free agent from Florida. He signed with the Buccaneers in May, was waived last Saturday and re-signed to the practice squad Sunday.

A sixth-year pro from Florida, Murphy was ruled out of Sunday’s game vs. Carolina with a back injury. Pointer, meanwhile, was waived Saturday with an injury waiver, but he did not appear on the injury report this week. He is a third-year player from UNLV.
