The Colts needed some depth in the backfield and at linebacker, and they picked up a pair of guys with NFL experience Tuesday.
They signed outside linebacker Chris Carter and running back Dion Lewis to fill a pair of roster spots.
Carter played 29 games for the Steelers the last three seasons. The former fifth-round pick was primarily a special teams player.
Lewis was also a fifth-rounder, from the Eagles in 2011. In two years there, he didn’t get much of a chance to run, but was an acceptable returner before being traded to the Browns.
They also signed quarterback Dominique Davis (formerly of Atlanta) to the practice squad and waived running back Zurlon Tipton.
