The Minnesota Vikings lost starting right guard Brandon Fusco for the season last week after suffering a torn pectoral muscle in a game against the New Orleans Saints.

According to Dave Campbell of the Associated Press, Fusco is set to have surgery on Monday to repair the injury. The recovery time is expected to be around four months.

Fusco was placed on injured reserve this week along with starting quarterback Matt Cassel. He had signed a five-year, $25 million deal to stay with the Vikings this offseason after starting 31 games over the past two years.

“I knew something was wrong because I couldn’t lift my arm,” Fusco said.

Fusco said this is the first surgery he’s had to have in his life.

Vladimir Ducasse will take his place in the starting lineup this weekend against the Atlanta Falcons.
