49ers could be short on Davises this weekend

The 49ers had tight end Vernon Davis and right tackle Anthony Davis in the lineup for their Week Four victory over the Eagles after both players had missed the previous game with injuries.

It might have been a one week only reprieve because there’s a low likelihood of both players being in the lineup against the Chiefs. Both Davises missed practice on Friday, making it an entire week without practice for both players.

Vernon Davis left the victory over Philly with a back injury and said he’d be fine early this week, which might explain why he’s a football player rather than a doctor. His absence should make the Chiefs feel a little bit better about still being without safety Eric Berry.

Anthony Davis missed the first three weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, but returned to start against the Eagles. He’s now listed with knee and ankle injuries, which could mean Jonathan Martin returns to the starting lineup this week.
