Alex Boone: Leave Jim Harbaugh alone

As rumors swirl that the 49ers and Jim Harbaugh are heading for a divorce, San Francisco guard Alex Boone is standing up for his coach.

“I’m really kind of sick of everybody talking about my coach, especially because he’s like a brother to me,” Boone told reporters after Sunday’s game. “So if I were everybody I’d just keep their mouth shut because they don’t want me coming after them. Especially Jay Glazer, Deion, all these guys. I’m kind of sick of it. Leave my coach alone.”

When a reporter asked Boone why he thinks so many people are questioning Harbaugh’s future in San Francisco, Boone answered, “Because they’re losers.”

Asked about comments from Trent Dilfer questioning Harbaugh’s ability to coach the team going forward, Boone asked, “Who’s Dilfer?” Told that Dilfer played for the 49ers, Boone answered, “Oh. He must not have been that good.”

Boone may be right about that, but how good a player Dilfer was is irrelevant to the question of whether he has insight into what’s going on in the 49ers’ facility today. Boone mostly sounded like he wanted to vent, and then he wanted the questions about Harbaugh to end.

“I’m just sick of everybody talking about our coach,” Boone said. “Why’s it got to be all the drama? Leave our team alone.”

This story is not going to be left alone. The Harbaugh Watch is on, whether the 49ers like it or not.

  1. I always love the “scrubs who weren’t that good” being blowhards is irrelevant to the conversation. This whole thing is coming from inside the front office, and my money is on Parag Marathe because he was the same guy who got Scott McCloughan pushed out. He keeps a low profile, so people don’t know the knives he’s sticking in people’s backs behind the scenes.

  2. Surely you could find a better image of a “whiner.” That is the clever little point of that picture, right? The”Forty Whiners,” and now Boone’s whining? You guys live for this stuff, you made a football player whine! Congrats.

  3. Keep up the chatter media. If there was a problem in the locker room, the constant negative attention on Harbaugh seems to be galvanizing the team. So by all means, keep the chatter going.

  4. “I’d just keep their mouth shut because they don’t want me coming after them”

Really?? Probably not the best way to go about getting your point across in today’s politically correct climate I’d say….

  5. I agree with the poster above about a galvanized locker room. If he doesn’t leave there should be consequences for those who said he would. In our media cycle the media can say whatever they want to because they can point to unnamed sources (like Jr high girls)

  6. Wow, sure looks like the whiny, cry baby coach has sure taught alot to his players!

So that’s where T.O got his ability to be such a good whiner….”just, just leave my quarterback alone!! He sure learned alot while in SF. lmao!!

  7. Hey Boone,
Last time I checked you were whining about reporting and NOW because your back collecting a paycheck you’re bashing other guys like Glazer and Dilfer. What’s up with that ?
I’m not even a 49ers fan, but, Dilfer won a Super Bowl, who the loser NOW……

  8. Always funnybwhen some Niner fans want to bring the Raiders into a Niner article. What do those two have in common? The thing about Harbaugh is that he is a great coach. But why would all these players lie about him? I’m sure not everyone is going to like their coach, but why won’t the other players step up for him? If this isn’t a problem then the players would have his back.

  9. Thanks to Alex Boone, from now on, the coach will always be Jim “Britney” Harbaugh to me.

  10. Boone holding out has literally ZERO to do with this. The guy was getting paid just a little above practice squad player level. Why would that have anything to do with his relationship with JH?

  11. Harbaugh watch is only on in the eyes of the media. These are grown ass men that are payed to play a game.

If I don’t like my boss, guess what, I can complain about it, but at the end of the day I will get my job done.

There is 53 men on this team, the opinion of a handful doesn’t mean anything.

  12. Trent Dilfer is a Superbowl winning QB who played for the Ravens. The same Ravens that BEAT the whiners in 2012 Superbowl and the team who as the Best Harbaugh as their Head Coach.

  13. “Who’s Dilfer?” Told that Dilfer played for the 49ers, Boone answered, “Oh. He must not have been that good.”

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA! 1 point for Boone.

Don’t dish it out if you can’t take it Dilfer.

  14. It will get old sooner rather than later. The media done its “first to report” business. The story will go away for the next few weeks, then it will come back towards the end.

I like the article standing up and saying, “its not going away”……you tell ’em. No one is going to push the little media man around.

  15. Jim Harbaugh will be next Raiders HC/GM.

He gets complete control of org that he first coached at.

His wife gets to keep living in the Bay area, as she wants.

Question is when this happens, not if, and what compensation Oakland gives SF.

Raiders probably end up in LA in two years though, so is the wife ok with that? That probably only thing that would be a deal breaker.

  16. I’m telling y’all. All the media is doing is giving more fuel to Harbaugh’s fire. His whole ” only the paranoid survive” “no friends outside of this locker room” “everybody’s against us” doctrines that he stresses to his team is all being justified. You’re going to see a team playing with a sense of togetherness and single purpose unknown to mankind.

    The media’s creating a 49er monster.

  17. Boone is 100% correct. This season, more than ever, the media has created story lines and then done all they can to keept hem going. First with the Washington Team Names, then Rice, then Goodell, now Harbaugh. These clowns NEED stuff like this because they aren’t talented enough to stay relvant based on their merits. It’s a shame to see what the media has become but it isn’t at all surprising.

Lastly, using the picture of a crying woman on a football site probably isn’t wise right now. Basically, you’re claiming that this guy is sounding like a crying woman, stereotyping all women as cry babies. That is low.

  18. Boone is hilarious, great with a mic in front of his face and he should stick up for his coach/teamate.
Id be more worried all these reports were more serious if the vets were not speaking out.
I don’t know if Harbaugh will be the coach next year here but I’m pretty sure he will not go to a complete dumpster fire like the Raiders with no hope of a quick turn around. No matter what they offer judging by his $8 pants and old truck money is not the primary motivation so teams like Oak, Mia or Cle are out of the question.

  19. @realfootballfan

Scot McCloughan wasn’t “pushed out” because he rubbed someone the wrong way; he was forced to resign because he kept showing up drunk for work, same as at his last job with the Seahawks.

  20. When a front office has problems with a winning coach it usually ends badly–for the front office. It just takes awhile to materialize. I’m not a Harbaugh fan, but he wins and most coaches don’t for very long. And if his team has quit on him why do they keep winning while the media is on high whine cause they don’t like him-you are the blond guys–and the real talk is still making plays on the field.

Believe it or not but that picture is that of a male Britney Spears fan. This is information that I’m not proud of knowing but your point is valid.

  22. Can’t stand dilfer or Deion . The truth of the matter is Harbaugh is a terrible human and its well documented throughout his career from a long time ago. Look up “Harbaugh style” video it’s hilarious and accurate. Also, Kaperchoke is why this team will never win. He is allergic to open receivers. Watched yesterday’s game and it’s amazing how he can’t go to his second read that’s wide open.

  23. EVEN if all this is true, until a player publicly states dissatisfaction this is nothing but media trying to cause a distraction. No players have come out and said one thing. Media should be banned from the locker room, they are creating the issue.

  24. Boone is a moron. Trying to be a bully and make fun of people so they shut up. Can’t think of anything real, doesn’t have the brain to think at all.

Oh and if Dilfer is such a loser, how come he has a Superbowl ring, unlike Boone. What does that make Boone?

  25. Isn’t it obvious Harbaugh is gone at the end of the season? The only reason he didn’t take the Browns job is because his wife didn’t want to live in Cleveland. That’s it. The deal was done otherwise.

And all this talk about a “galvanizing” locker-room is crap. This is a business. Players play for themselves and just like coaches coach for themselves, etc. Harbaugh doesn’t have the power he wants in SF and he’s going elsewhere after the season’s over to get the power he wants. I’d be surprised if he hasn’t had back-door talks with other teams already.

  26. LOL at anyone that thinks these blowhards Glazer, Deion or Dilfer could stand up to any active player. They’re old and they’re soft now and all they still have left is a fading reputation. Thankfully, soon enough they will be gone from the scene, one way or another.

  27. Glazer, Deion, Dilfer…there like the little drama queens in high school that have nothing better to report about, so they have to continue to try and stay a relevant “analyst”. I thought an analyst analyzes the game and team performances not drama? Yea, there could be rift between players and upper management. I’m sure most people in a typical working environment have not liked their immediate supervisor or been pleased with how their company was running at one time or another. These so called analyst’s should just stick to analyzing the game

    ———-
Dilfer just lucked out being surrounded by a great defense, his stats for that SB was 150 yards and 1 TD. You could of thrown in Rachel Bilson, er Russel Wilson and they still would of won

  29. It’s not like the KC @ SF game was exciting or relevant. Just two strong teams with rival QBs playing a close game with gutsy play calling and soul crushing late game penalties.

    Nothing to write about there.

  30. Love how all these fAider fans are coming in here saying that JH will coach their team next year .. but for the last 3 years all they have been saying about Jh is what an Ahole he is and whiner and blah blah.. but now he is a great coach .. haha. hypocrites

  31. Who’s Dilfer? He’s that guy smiling behind that diamond crusted superbowl ring that’s blinding Boone and the rest of the whiners.

  32. hey Boone…buzzzzzz off! Newsflash: You’re in pro football….it’s the media job to cover ALL teams, and it’s your job to play….you don’t get to dictate to the media what’s reported about your team, or coach. Get over yourself and play….and speaking of “good enough”, you’re not “good enough” to call out HOF players who also once played for the 9er’s, aka Deion Sanders.

  33. Trent Dilfer is the guy who said Jim Hostler was a superstar football coach and one of the best OC’s in the game. Trent Dilfer is the guy who said the 49er locker room situation was “toxic.” When pressed on his sources, he said he didn’t have a source. He based his opinion on “body language.” Trent Dilfer is the guy who literally said, “You cannot lose games in the NFL, and still win.” Trent Dilfer is a blowhard who talks out of his behind. He’s totally clueless. I have no idea why anyone would employ him to talk about football. He’s an idiot.

My personal opinion is that the Harbaugh stories are manufactured by the local media and fed to the national guys because they don’t like Harbaugh.

  34. I’m not even a 49ers fan, but, Dilfer won a Super Bowl, who the loser NOW……

Dilfer didn’t win a super Bowl, he just didn’t lose it. The Ravens D won that game.

  35. Whaaaaaah – Boone probably brought an apple into his grade school teacher everyday

  36. Media fuel driven. The fans outside of the 49ers could care less and the 49ers fans wish the media would quite reporting about what unnamed sources are telling Deon. It’s baseless and desperate reporting on a non issue. Even if it’s true do you think every coach was liked by every locker room? Let’s see…Parcells,Coughlin,Singletary,Childress the list goes on and on. Harbaugh is unique only in the fact that if he is on the hot seat that he probably has the biggest selection of jobs as to where he wants to go. He is not worried, I am sure that it just pisses him off because it distracts the team…..which I guess, in turn would make him a good coach.

  37. Last I checked, winners are hard to find.

The 49r’s loss will end up being somebody else’s gain.

You can lay that down with some cold hard cash in Vegas.

Harbaugh should have signed my man the samster to the practice squad.

  38. I enjoy how the writer insults Boone for sticking up for his coach. And how Glazer, Dilfer, etc. are all chiming in about how the team is in turmoil, but all of those guys would call out a T.O. type player for being a cancer in the lockerroom, by causing a distraction to the ball club.

    Arseholes.

  39. To deny there’s a concocted witch hunt on Harbaugh is delusional at this point. He can’t sneeze without having a headline about it being a sign of him leaving and/or being hated by everybody.

  40. Dilfer didn’t win a super Bowl, he just didn’t lose it. The Ravens D won that game.
    ———————————————

And yet Kraperpick continues to lose your important games.

    I guess he doesn’t learn.

  41. Dilfer just lucked out being surrounded by a great defense, his stats for that SB was 150 yards and 1 TD. You could of thrown in Rachel Bilson, er Russel Wilson and they still would of won
    —————————————————–

But could they have overcome Kraperpick’s usual 2 or 3 picks in an important game?

  42. The picture in that article is so funny!

    Classic 49erwhiners.

Quit whining, Boone. If you cared about your coach so much you wouldn’t have held out of OTA’s and training camp.

    #CrybabyFranchise

  43. The media is so into this story regardless if it’s true or not.

If the 49er players kept their mouths shut they would use that as proof there is a divide. If the players speak up for the coach they say they’re trying to cover up the story or they’re whining.

Notice the HS tactics with the picture. How they didn’t use the actual video of the interview. Anyone can be a “reporter/writer” nowadays. Just learn some HTML and be in a fantasy league.

  44. I’m a long time 49ers fan, and sometimes I can’t put wonder if Harbaugh is somehow the one that’s setting all this stuff up. Let’s face it. He’s a little “off,” but he thrives in environments like this. When everyone doubts him and his team. He likes the ammunition. Who is to say that he’s not behind all of this in a effort to rally the team to unite even more so. I know. Maybe it’s the little conspiracy theorist in me, but like I said, Harbaugh’s a nut. Wouldn’t put it past him.

  45. I wish these players would start coming after you media talking heads that trash talk players constantly (Florio) and hide behind your computers in your comfy offices. Didn’t that happen to Jim Rome once?

  46. I’m something of a Raiders fan and I can’t stand Jim Harbaugh. But if I was the Raiders I’d definitely trade my first and second round draft choices for James Hairball. And, I’d pay him whatever he wants.

  47. I love Alex Boone. He’s THE MAN! Not shy about calling out Dilfer and Sanders, and the O-Line’s run blocking has noticeably as he’s shaken the rust off.

  48. Harbaugh being under pressure to win a super bowl has caused him to come apart at the seams. I imagine it’s h.ell being around him. His sideline behaviors give proof of that.

  49. Glazer, the hack and Dilfer, the has-been.

They get paid to stir the pot, but quite frankly, they’re both horrible analysts.

  50. It seems that the media is taking a page from the Fox “News” playbook and are simply making things up to see what sticks.

Glazer and Deion are two-bit hacks. Dilfer literally made up his story without even having an anonymous source.

  51. “If the 49ers win the Super Bowl this year, the media will do a complete 180 on Harbaugh.”

Gonna be kind of hard to do since they won’t make the playoffs this year.

They’ll play 16 games, clean out the lockers and head for home and their recliners to WATCH the playoffs on TV. Harbaugh will be unemployed, and Kaep will be off doing his stupid things he does in the off season..instead of trying to improve…which means the new coach may well get himself a REAL quarterback instead of the sub-par back-up they have now.

    Poor ‘Frisco!

  52. What? Another 49’er ran his mouth off like a crybaby with a couple halfwitted insults at his betters? I’m totally and completely unshocked. Hey Boone, everyone knows Dilfer’s name and nobody outside your nursery of a locker room and it’s stab happy fanbase doesn’t know or care who you are. Dilfer’s got a good gig going and you’ll be broke five years after you retire. Dilfer’s the loser? You’re projecting bro.

Harbaugh will be at Michigan next year and all anyone’s gonna hear from the felonious fans of Santa Clara is how glad the all are that he’s finally gone because they never liked him. Harbaugh better make the announcement from Ann Arbor, otherwise he might not survive the multiple stab wounds.

  53. Trent Dilfer’s claim to fame will always be people using his name as an example of how a team can win a Super Bowl without a franchise quarterback.
