A.J. Green carted off practice field, after apparent toe injury

The Bengals were proven vulnerable Sunday night, and they might have gotten more vulnerable this afternoon.

According to Geoff Hobson of the team’s official website, wide receiver A.J. Green just left the practice field on a golf cart, after apparently aggravating the toe injury that has bothered him throughout the year.

Green has only missed one game this year, but the injury has hampered him throughout the season.

His slow start against the Patriots Sunday appeared to be more about Darrelle Revis covering him than anything injury related, but clearly something’s amiss.

Marvin Jones is also out of practice, leaving the Bengals thin at receiver heading into this week’s game against the Panthers.

  1. Great… just great.

    #1 WR – OUT
    #2 WR – OUT
    #1 TE – OUT
    #1 LB – OUT

… and… jermaine gresham NOT injured.

    Ugh!!!

  2. Seriously? Did anyone watch this game? Revis played well but dalton missed green on like 3 throws, two of which would have been tds. Dude couldn’t hit the broad side if a barn on Sunday night. Green had plenty of separation on him.

  3. Good lord, we go from undefeated, best team in the league to getting blown out by the Pats, now out best player is down..what next? If we don’t get him back, this team is going nowhere.

  4. They are deep at skill positions, but losing their #1 WR, #2 WR and #1 TE is tough for any team to overcome. It’s turf toe and that just doesn’t disappear during the season.

  5. Toe injuries sound insignificant, but they can seriously hurt a players performance.

  6. Hope he’s back soon but turf toe isn’t a minor thing – Tremaine Brock (niners starting corner) sprained his toe in week 1 and has only now started practicing. Best of luck.

  7. “Patriots DESTROYED the red pop gun and the bengals!”
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

    No.
    The patriots DESTROYED the Bengals.

Andy Dalton had 117 QB rating, 2 touchdowns, and ZERO interceptions.

It would have been 3 or 4 tds… but… jermaine gresham SUCKS and Revis took A.J. Green off his routes for the majority of the game.

It would have been nice to see the results with #1 TE Tyler Eifert and #2 WR Marvin Jones playing (like when the Bengals DESTROYED tom brady and the patriots in Cincinnati last season).

  8. Belichick meant when he said when he said they were “On To Cincinnati”. Apparently that also meant ruining their entire season going forward, too.

  9. I build my whole team around WRs. It was going to be glorious. Calvin Johnson, AJ Green, Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Wayne. CJ and AJ out, Larry getting nothing.

  10. Between the last two undefeated teams, the Cardinals and Bengals, you might have enough healthy players to make one decent team. Week 5 was just brutal.

  11. I’m not a Bengals fan, so it’s easy for me to say this … I’m happy for Andy Dalton. Now, he will have the opportunity to shine without the superstar that supposedly covers Dalton’s weaknesses. Dalton is a VERY good quarterback. He was more productive his first three years than Peyton Manning was his first three. And Marvin Harrison was putting up much bigger numbers for Peyton those three years than A.J. Green has for Dalton. … Now, the truth can be seen.

  12. The fantasy gods owe me this after the Wilson/Harvin TD’s were brought back causing my great pain. Plus, I traded AJ Green for Jordy Nelson. It’s all falling into place.

  13. green played last game against patriots right? what was that score again bungle fans?? he made no difference! 1 player makes no difference. wheres that next man up attitude that the steelers employ? we had 3 starters go down in week 3. don’t hear us complain! don’t look now ladies but here come the steelers to take what is rightfully ours! the afc north baby!! wooooooooo

  14. Defense will rebound and lock down Carolina and Gio and Jeremy Hill are going to blow up this week. Not too worried this week, just get Green healthy for the long haul.

  16. At least Burfict will be back. He will set the tone defensively and Carolina still doesn’t have the weapons the Bengals do even with al the injuries.

  17. It would have been nice to see the results with #1 TE Tyler Eifert and #2 WR Marvin Jones playing (like when the Bengals DESTROYED tom brady and the patriots in Cincinnati last season)

Yeah start with the excuses now funny I didn’t hear you mention any of that last season in that 12 to 6 Bengals win when the patriots didn’t have gronk didn’t ever ridley didn’t have Vareen. started a undrafted wide receiver and another rookie wide receiver making his first start. love the excuses.

    Did Geno even play?

  18. Didn’t the Steelers lose to the Bucs at home? Yeah you probably shouldn’t talk trash til next year.

  19. As if you were beating Carolina anyway …. now this !!

lindell White almost got it right , its “Ohio Sucks”

  20. “we had 3 starters go down in week 3. don’t hear us complain”
    _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Nobody hears steelers fans complain because the pittsburgh steelers have been irrelevant and a non-factor in the AFC North since pittsburgh steelers team doctor richard rydze was indicted by federal authorities for illegal distribution of anabolic steroids and human growth hormone.

  21. On the surface, comparing Dalton to Peyton may sound ridiculous. But when you consider their post season performances….

  22. And please with red PPP gun QB rating. He completed 15 passes and 1 of his TD’s came when Revis was out of the game and he was 0-7 on third downs.

Dalton’s ineptness will really show now! Watch.
    ___________

Dalton played without AJ already this year. Had a 116.6 passer rating.

  24. I don’t play fantasy football but have nothing against it. I can however tell all you people that no one and I mean No One except you cares about your fantasy team.

  25. I thought the Bengals were coming along nicely until I read “Receiver Carted Off the Field with TOE Injury”? I pretty sure you could cut off a toe and still manage to walk off the field. He might not be able to make those killer cuts that put him in the highlight reels, but carted off the field? Give me a break, man up and walk off the field. Save the cart for the guy who just had his spine crushed or something really serious.
