Jason Kelce thinks JPP and the Giants are dumb

The Giants and Eagles have been talking trash all week, but Eagles center Jason Kelce took it up a notch this morning.

After Giants defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul said the Eagles were 4-1 “but they could have easily been 0-4,” the Eagles center fired back.

“Well my response to that is, I don’t think Jason Pierre-Paul is smart enough to come up with that statement on his own,” Kelce told Angelo Cataldi of WIP, via the New York Daily News. “I think he’s the type of guy that just reiterates what his coaches have been telling him. So, I’m a little worried about Tom Coughlin’s math because I feel like maybe that’s where it was screwed up. Maybe it was just relayed to him.”

Oh.
So not only is he ripping Pierre-Paul for being dumb, but he’s disparaging the math skills of Mr. October in one fell swoop.
And when asked to clarify if he meant the entire team wasn’t smart, Kelce replied: “That is correct. They are a good football team, but yes.”
While most of the other participants in this week’s back-and-forth are actually going to play, we’re not sure any of them went that far.

  1. No dog in this fight, not a fan of either team, but, seems to me that when the Eagles OFFENSE scores enough point to beat the oppponent they have room to talk. Delete the special teams/defense points from their scores and what is their record?

  2. Except, Coughling said:

Tom Coughlin, Wednesday to media: “Outstanding Philadelphia Eagles football team, 4-1 team that could be 5-0”

So…its probably just JPP. Coughlin has forgotten more than Kelce could ever know.

  3. @trollingpatsfan I HAVE had a beer with Kelce. and a couple shots. He’s actually a really cool guy and will talk to anyone for the most part.

He’s arguably one of the best centers in the league and I would agree with his assessment. JPP does come across as being dumb. And his play is no where near where it once was.

JPP should worry about how he’s going to deal with Jason Peters/Lane Johnson and a little less about could have/should have/would have

  4. Before everyone gets their panties in a bunch and for everyone that didn’t actually listen to the interview, the whole thing was done in jest.

But yes, JPP is most likely a moron.

  5. Giants fan here, I was looking forward to the game… was as in past tense… but now I’m very much expecting the prime time ultra-beatdown that almost always happens when players talk trash before a big game…. . Thanks JPP!

  6. Kelce had a right to berate JPP. Not only have his comments made no sense over the years but he is still living off of a reputation he earned his rookie year. Coughlin, however, has more credibility than the entire Eagles coaching staff (and I’m an Eagles fan). Next time be quiet Kelce–especially since your not suiting up.

  7. I love it! We need more of this in the NFC east…trash talk. It builds the rivalries and loyalties to your team. The politically correct comments from players about their rival teams is getting boring and old.

  8. Jpp speaks multiple languages, has supported his family financially since high school, and has picked up the game faster than anyone thought possible. one dumb sentence doesn’t make him dumb.

  9. I can’t wait to put on my Trent Cole jersey and get into my seat in Section 219 Sunday night and watch this good old fashion divisional blood bath. GO BIRDS!!!!

  10. I love this. The NFL is trying to be a little less “WWE” during the games with player safety, so I love that guys are trying to be a little more “WWE” with their interviews.

  11. See. This is where the Eagles got greedy. We’ve been talking player to player trash and Philly likely had the better bulletin board material. However, when you insult the coach…especially the venerable 2x future HOF coach of the NY Football Giants, you’ve taken it to a whole nother’ level.

  12. NFC East final standings:

    1. Cowboys
    2. Giants (wildcard)
    3. Eagles and their 25th ranked defense

    4. Redskins lol

  13. Clearly, Eagle fans have not watched one Giants game this year. JPP and Prince are both playing at all pro level right now. In two days, you’ll learn.

The reality will begin to sink in with Dallas this week, and continue the week afterward. Keep thinking Dallas is going to be there in the win. Romo will have to pass more later in the season, and you KNOW what that means…

  15. Typical responses from UN-educated fans. I love nothing more than seeing the idiots who think the NFL started in the 60s. And even more-so the ones who the words “Super-Bowl” or “Rings” because they don’t want to count the 3 NFL Championships that Philadelphia has.

  16. Gotta love when White guys try to pull the education angle (even toward guys whose education is superior to theirs) when they’ve got nothing of substance with which to retort.

You left off not being able to wait for Cole to disappear, which he always does.

  18. I’m an Eagles fan, and I’ll say that based on how both teams have been playing/injuries etc. the Giants should win this game.

HOWEVER…….something tells me this one is going to be unpredictable, and a knock-down drag out battle till the last play.

  19. @justintuck All-pro level? JPP? Not even leading his own team in sacks. Doesn’t even have 2 sacks…if that’s All Pro…What does that make JJ Watt?

  20. Crap! A giants player said something idiotic and an Eagles player called him on it. As a giants fan, that’s my cue to to talk about old Super Bowls that have nothing to do with the present.

  21. The Giants still haven’t thanked the Eagles for beating the hell out of the Redskins for days before they played each other. Made that one extra easy for them.
Hopefully this game will be just as physical as Eagles Skins, we’ll have 2 weeks to rest, and they’ll have to go try to beat that Dallas OLine… By week 9 they’ll be depleted.

  22. @PhillyBoyPay5 “JPP does come across as being dumb. And his play is no where near where it once was.

you CLEARLY do not know what you’re talking about and are just speaking about something you have no idea about Jason Pierre Paul is rated the best 4-3 DE in the league by ProFootballFocus at +15.4 and is +12.6 vs the run this year.

so nice try trying to say JPP sucks. Guys playing through the roof. learn a little about other teams before you start talkin smack

  23. @PhillyBoyPat5:

“@justintuck All-pro level? JPP? Not even leading his own team in sacks. Doesn’t even have 2 sacks…if that’s All Pro…What does that make JJ Watt?”

ahh i see you’re a mr. “let me look at the stat sheet quick; sacks are the only part of the game for a DE” type of kid. literally all you look at is sacks. watch the Giants at all, watch highlights of the game even, you see JPP terrorizing the backfield. He’s putting pressure on QBs all game forcing them to rush their throws and throw bad passes and is the best 4-3 DE in the league vs the run.

and btw, JJ Watt is all-world and no one is on his level, you cannot bring him in for a comparison with ANYONE

  24. I feel sorry if you were born a Philadelphia Pigeons fan. Zero. Point. Zero. Super. Bowls. Zero. When was the last NFL Championship you won? Still clinging to Ron Jaworski and Donovan McNabb, who never won anything? What has Nick Foles ever won? Anything? Sorry losers!

  25. @Phillyboy – JPP is the top rated DE in the league right now according to PFF. Being a good DE doesn’t just mean having high sack numbers.

    Shut off the Madden.

Sacks don’t tell the whole story. He has been extremely disruptive every game and making plays in the run game. Leave talking about the Giants to Giants fans.

Thank them for what? That was going to happen anyway. Seattle would have done the exact same if not for the awful calls on Harvin scores.

Is Kelce playing? Big tough guy. Chirp chirp birdies.

    ——————————————————————–

Let’s see you do anything useful after abdominal surgery. Get a clue. So by your stupid logic I guess JPP was a wimp for not playing after back surgery. Be real

  29. Kelce can say whatever he wants. He’s beaten the Giants plenty since he’s been in the league. But most of you giants fans already now this.

  30. I typically hate when teams trash talk, but this one actually made me laugh out loud. I’m a Giants fan but that was hilarious. Mainly because it made no sense based on the context but still hilarious.

Makes me wonder if JPP is actually a bumbling idiot. It had to come from somewhere.

  31. Kelce has beaten us plenty in the past? But don’t dare mention past accomplishments to an Eagles fan. They will tell you it’s all about “now”. Well the “now” says Kelce isn’t playing and shouldn’t speak.

Giants 4 – 8 in last 12 meets against Eagles. It’s going to be years before they can reach .500 against the Eagles.
    ____________________________________________________

Yes, and those years are the previous 60 that you left off that make the giants 85-77 against the eagles.

Its going to take the Eagles DECADES to get to a lifetime .500 against the giants.

I’m a Patriots fan, I don’t really care either way, I just felt the need to reply to your “stats”

  33. Why is any of that relevant? We’re comparing current regimes here, current coaches, current skill positions, current coaches.

A little math also shows it will not take decades. Seven games to reach .500 in history is just three years.

  34. We have championships, and the SBs will come. We are happy to enjoy the season as it goes along, not worried about what other players did in past years.
