Report: Pierre Thomas out 2-3 weeks with shoulder injury

AP

Saints running back Pierre Thomas suffered a shoulder injury Sunday that may sideline him.

Thomas is expected to miss two or three weeks, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

The shoulder injury took place during Sunday’s loss to the Lions, a loss that was costly for New Orleans on the injury front: center Jonathan Goodwin suffered a leg injury, defensive end Glenn Foster had a knee injury and nose tackle Brodrick Bunkley had a head injury.

The versatile Thomas is third on the team in rushing with 133 yards and third on the team in receiving with 26 catches. The 2-3 week timeframe would put Thomas out for Sunday night’s game against the Packers and next Thursday’s game against the Panthers, as well as possibly the following week’s game against the 49ers.

  1. Whenever we need a crucial first down, PT has been the man. This will be a big loss for a few weeks.

  2. Easily the toughest stretch of next three games in NFL…Having to play the Packers on a Sunday night then playing 4 nights later on the road on a Thursday… I don’t trust NFL schedule-makers for one second

  3. Pierre has always been resilient, I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him in uniform for the Green Bay game.

  4. Saints got spoiled up at the Green Briar resort in Virginia. They went up there to party. Just breath on a Saints player and they get injured. Jimmy whines and gets injured on EVERY tackle. Pierre and Mark are soft too. Receivers cant get seperation and when they do they drop the ball. Cant rush the passer, cant tackle, cant cover and when they do get an interception (a whole 3 on the season, im so excited) they get tackled right away with zero return yards because they are so slow. Drew is playing like a rookie QB. He has happy feet, he’s easily confused, no arm strength, no accuracy and cant tell his receivers from the opponents receivers. No sense of urgency from the players or the coaches. Even coach Payton lost his fire and his ability to call a good game. Now coach calls games like ole Carl Smith did (predictable). Even if they squeek out the division win they’ll get bounced in the first round of the playoffs. And the real scarey part is the players and coaches seem content with being losers. Geaux Saints!

  5. This is bad. Pierre Thomas represents the physical presence of this team. It doesn’t matter how Jimmy Graham flexes or Mark Ingram woofs, it’s Thomas that provides that attitude.

  6. Salem

Are you a fan or bandwagoner? I don’t think they want to lose and outside the Cowboys pounding the games have been close. The difference is, we use to win those and now we are losing them. The entire team and coaching sraff are turning in disappointing season.

  7. Pierre Thomas= The first player to ever score a touchdown in a Super Bowl for the Saints. This is really as tough a loss as Jimmy Graham was/is for the Saints. His running and pass catching abilities and yac will be missed when we play Green Bay on national tv Sunday night.
