The Colts defense had a dreadful day on Sunday, but a serious injury for cornerback Vontae Davis won’t be part of the final tally of pain and suffering.

Coach Chuck Pagano said Monday, via Stephen Holder of the Indianapolis Star, that there was no sign of a major injury on an MRI of Davis’s knee. As a result, the team is considering him day-to-day as they make their way toward next Monday night’s game against the Giants.

That means we’ll have to wait until a bit later in the week to know if Davis will be well enough to play in that game, but it’s certainly a good sign for the Colts secondary that they aren’t looking at any extended time without their top cornerback.

Pagano said that wide receiver Reggie Wayne is also day-to-day after missing the loss to the Steelers with an elbow injury and that linebacker Erik Walden is week-to-week with a hip injury, which likely means that the Colts will have to do without him during their trip to New Jersey.
