Khiry Robinson, Pierre Thomas don’t practice Tuesday

The Saints were again down two tailbacks at Tuesday’s practice.

Running backs Pierre Thomas (rib, shoulder) and Khiry Robinson (forearm) didn’t participate in the Saints’ workout, per the injury report. Both backs missed Sunday night’s victory vs. Green Bay. If both remain out Thursday, Mark Ingram will get the lion’s share of the reps, with Travaris Cadet as the top reserve and Edwin Baker as the third option.

Other Saints sitting out Tuesday were starting inside linebacker David Hawthorne (hand) and reserve fullback Austin Johnson (knee). Kyle Knox is the top backup to Hawthorne on the depth chart.

Knox (ankle) was limited on Tuesday, as was tight end Jimmy Graham (shoulder) and center Jonathan Goodwin (knee, ankle). Graham played 42-of-68 snaps against Green Bay, catching five passes for 59 yards and a touchdown. All of his receiving production came in the second half, perhaps a sign he’s returning to form as he deals with the shoulder ailment.

  1. That plays to Ingram’s strength, with more carries, he gets stronger and becomes a more punishing runner as the game progresses.
