Add another quarterback into the mix for the Jets.

Matt Simms, son of Phil and brother of Chris, has been moved from the Jets’ practice squad to their active roster in advance of tomorrow’s game against the Chiefs. That could mean the Jets are concerned that Geno Smith, who is listed as questionable with a shoulder injury, will be unable to play.

Michael Vick is the starter for the Jets, but if Smith can’t go then Simms would be the No. 2. And if Vick can’t play better than he did last week, when he had three turnovers in relief of Smith (who had three turnovers himself), Jets fans may be hoping Rex Ryan will give Simms a shot to show what he can do.

Simms was initially signed more as a training camp arm than anything else, but he played well enough in the preseason that the Jets decided to keep him around on the practice squad, and now he may be active on Sunday.

To make room for Simms on the active roster, the Jets released receiver Chris Owusu. The Jets have also announced that cornerback Darrin Walls will not make the trip to Kansas City as he deals with a leg injury.
