Cary Williams on Andre Johnson: “He’s not the same guy”

AP

The Eagles beat the Texans in Houston on Sunday.  And Philadelphia cornerback Cary Williams regards Houston receiver Andre Johnson as a beaten man.

He’s not the same guy,” Williams said after the game, according to Matt Hammond of SportsRadio 610 in Houston.  “Not the same guy.”

The difference wasn’t Johnson’s ability as much as it was his attitude.

“I don’t know if he’s happy,” Williams said. “I”m not sure.  I know he had some disputes before the season in a couple years now.

“But I know Andre Johnson.  I know what he’s done over his career.  Just the attitude.  It just wasn’t the same.”

Johnson had two catches for 12 yards this year.  For the season, he has 48 catches for 563 yards and only one touchdown.

  1. Fitzcraptrick is incapable of attempting a pass downfield, no matter if it’s Andre or Hopkins. I’d be disinterested too knowing I have a QB who holds onto the ball forever and always takes off running thinking he’s Vick in his prime.

  2. Cary Williams speaks the truth – if Cary Williams of all players can play a role in limiting Andre Johnson to 12 yards, Johnson ain’t the same player.

  3. Atleast he was the guy at one point. Carey has never been the guy just a guy in the league. Terrible corner.

  4. He just looks like he doesn’t want to be there. He’s definitely still capable of being a very good receiver, but it just seems like he doesn’t care much

  5. Still on pace to have about 90 catches and 1000 yards.. I’m sure most of the nfl fans around the country wouldn’t mind have a “declining player” posting such numbers on their squads.

  6. Is this news? Hopkins is the man now, and even with this awful qb, he’s getting his numbers. Andre was awesome and everyone in Houston will always love the guy, but he isn’t 25 anymore.

  7. Regardless if it was mental or physical, Andre Johnson showed that he was already losing a step last year. The downward slide has continued, just as predicted.

  8. Sorry guys, Fitzpatrick is not the reason this team is losing. I think Texans fans need to start realizing this defense is not as good as they think it is. When Mark Sanchez leads the Eagles to victory then start looking at the defensive side of the ball. Not just Fitzpatrick.

I can’t believe there are people this blind. Kidding me? The defense is more than holding it’s own, having once again forced 4 turnovers today, including a pick-6 even after having lost both starting corners. Fitz completed 48% of his passes today for an incredible 203 yds, with 4 sacks taken where in every one he held onto the ball forever. The Texans offense for the season is converting a whopping 38% of their 3rd downs. Pickspatrick can’t do anything even with the likes of Andre and Nuk on the ouside and Foster behind him. When have you seen him make a play with his arm? Uh…hardly ever. Unless you are related to Fitz, it’s asinine for you or anyone to defend him. He’s a mediocre backup journeyman who’s only starting since O’Brien clearly has no faith in Mallett or Savage at the moment.

  10. Fitzpatrick held onto the ball too long on quite a few plays that resulted in very bad sacks, why Mallett not starting is beyond me.

  11. as an eagles fan, let me say.

Stationary Cary Williams does not speak for this franchise.
he does not speak for this team.

he speaks for himself and headlines.
that toast you are smelling is his natural aroma.

If you want to hear how “great” he is, just let him tellya.
If you want to know how he actually plays, ask the WRs around the league that lick their chops when he’s lined up over them.
