As Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant continues to move toward free agency or the franchise tag, Bryant has decided to make an agent change.
Out is Eugene Parker. In is Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports.
The company has announced the acquisition of Bryant as a client. It’s unclear, however, whether Bryant has selected Roc Nation Sports only for marketing or for contract negotiations.
According to NFLPA records, Bryant currently has no agent. Which means that Parker officially has been fired, and that Bryant has not yet hired a new agent.
Owner Jerry Jones previously has attempted to negotiate directly with Bryant, who wisely has resisted. Jones apparently hopes to sign Bryant to the same kind of ultra-long-term deal to which tackle Tyron Smith agreed earlier this year.
Parker had been Bryant’s agent since he entered the league, sticking with Bryant despite plenty of early-career controversies. Bryant has since matured, but for reasons not yet known he decided to hire new representation.
