The decision on whether the Browns’ leading receiver will play Thursday night at Cincinnati reportedly could come down to the wire.
Browns coach Mike Pettine indicated Tuesday the status of receiver Andrew Hawkins (knee/thigh) might not be known until game day, Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal reported.
Hawkins did not practice on Tuesday, per the club’s injury report, according to Ulrich.
The 28-year-old Hawkins has caught 39 passes for 504 yards and a touchdown this season for Cleveland (5-3). He joined the Browns as a restricted free agent in the offseason after three years with the Bengals (2011-2013).
Browns tight end Jordan Cameron (concussion) also remained sidelined on Tuesday, according to Ulrich, with Pettine noting that Cameron hasn’t been cleared to return. Cameron has suffered three concussions since December 2012, with the latest coming Oct. 26 vs. Oakland.
