The Ravens are thin in the secondary at the moment, but they’d rather get thinner than go with the existing options.
According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Ravens have released struggling cornerback Chykie Brown.
On its face, the move is justifiable, since he was torched against the Steelers Sunday night (but who among the was not). But his struggles this year have been persistent, as he also gave up a game-winning touchdown in the opener against the Bengals.
The Ravens are currently without starter Jimmy Smith (foot sprain) and started veteran Dominique Franks opposite Lardarius Webb last week.
The team announced later they promoted Tramian Jacobs from the practice squad to fill his spot.
They also activated defensive tackle Terrence Cody from the PUP list, and released tight end Phillip Supernaw.
Cody is recovering from offseason hip surgery, and has been practicing for three weeks.
