Giants coach Tom Coughlin said the team was in the market for help at cornerback in the wake of Prince Amukamara’s season-ending torn biceps and they added that help on Wednesday in the form of former Raven Chykie Brown.

Brown was waived by the Ravens on Tuesday and the needy Giants announced Wednesday that their waiver claim for him was successful.

Brown didn’t play very well for Baltimore in a limited amount of playing time this season, which explains why the Ravens were willing to get rid of him in an effort to improve the play in the back end of their defense. The Giants don’t have a ton of options available to them at the moment, however, and likely hope that Brown’s experience enables him to contribute in sub packages soon.

With Amukamara, Walter Thurmond and Trumaine McBride all out for the season, the Giants have Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Zack Bowman and Jayron Hosley at the top of the depth chart at corner.

Amukamara was officially placed on injured reserve to make space for Brown on the roster.
