49ers activate Glenn Dorsey

The 49ers got linebacker Aldon Smith back for their victory over the Giants and they’ll have another returning piece to use on defense this week as well.

The team announced Monday that they have activated defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey from injured reserve and added him to their 53-man roster. Dorsey was placed on injured reserve at the start of the season because of a biceps injury, but returned to practice a few weeks ago and hasn’t had any further physical setbacks.

Dorsey will fill an immediate need on the defensive line for the Niners. Nose tackle Ian Williams has been out with a fractured fibula and the team placed him on injured reserve Monday to free up the roster spot for Dorsey. Dorsey had 41 tackles and two sacks while making 13 starts and playing in every game for the Niners last season.

With Smith and Dorsey back, attention now turns toward linebacker NaVorro Bowman. Bowman has to start practicing this week to have any chance of playing for the team this season.

  1. The Niners have one of the best defenses in the league, no question.
But — Colin Krapperdink is proving that he is not a good passer. He has one speed — his fastball — and no touch.
Until he becomes a more accurate and polished QB, the Niners won’t win a Super Bowl.

I think part of that is due to not having speed in his WRs. It takes about a split second (yes, in football that is a long time) for them to come to their break. Kaep then feels the pressure and zips the ball to the receiver, thus sacrificing touch. But believe me, I’ve been critical of Kaep’s play this season.

  3. Stevie Johnson is really fast. Crabtree never gets a chance to display it anymore because of that.
It’s hard not to be critical of his play but there are so many positives.
I’m jumping on the “sack Roman” campaign.

  4. They have a good defense but if you can only manage 16 points in a game you get 5 turnovers in, you still have issues to deal with

  5. kapp is a heck of a qb! 49ers drafted this guy in the 3rd round! 3 nfc championships and 1 superbowl….10 yards from winning a superbowl trophy….Did anyone here watch peyton get whipped by the rams!!!! ill take kapp all day…
now if u want to place some blame theres plenty to go around… how about the worst O.C ever….how about crabtree dropping 1st downs all game….Vernon davis should be ashamed of his self for taking a pay check!!!! But the 49ers are still in it and u can keep hating on the niners….
    GOOOOOOOOO49ers
