Belichick on Suh: “He changes everything”

Patriots coach Bill Belichick is telling his offensive linemen that they have a big responsibility on their hands against Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh on Sunday.

“He changes everything,” Belichick said on NFL Network. “You can’t let him penetrate or he’ll foul the whole play up. You’ve got to secure him on the line of scrimmage and again, that’s a lot easier said than done because of his talent and also some of the different looks they give you. He’s very disruptive in both the running game and the passing game. He’s got great effort. He makes plays in pursuit and on the backside. So really there’s no weakness in his game.”

Sometimes an offense can avoid good defensive tackles by running to the outside, but Belichick says there’s no getting past Suh.

“He’s got to be blocked on every play, no matter what the play is,” Belichick said.

That’s the top priority for the Patriots’ offensive line.

  1. If I didn’t know better, I’d say Bill’s smitten with Mr. Suh.

I wouldn’t be stunned if Burning Spears ended up in New England next Fall.

  2. The fact that he’s been penalized so little this year has also helped his production. To be honest I’d put more than one guy to block him if I were Belichick because he’s that good.

  3. ‘Ol Bill hypes every player or team up before they play them. That being said, Suh is just behind JJ Watt as the most disruptive DL in the game.

Not a chance, New England will not shell out the money that Suh will command.

His actual stats aren’t overly impressive. 33 players have more sacks this season.

  6. If you run a lot of early screens and stretch plays, there’s a chance you could tire him out by the fourth quarter.

You are what is called a “low intelligence” football fan. I’m guessing you’re big into fantasy football.

    Or a Seahawks fan

  9. Poor little Chippy has never gotten over being picked last in kickball, dodgeball and every other competitive aspect of life. Makes him the perfect Phlipper Phan.

  10. nothing less than JJ Watt money….so that immediately eliminates the Patriots

Bill will always look for a roster full of solid role players versus a couple big money superstars.

    Less headaches, better win percentage.

  11. Suh is a freak. He was pushing Pro Bowler Mike Pouncey around like he was a third string player.

  12. Anyone complaining about the way Suh plays has never heard of Lyle Alzado. That guy was terrifying, even by the standards of his era. Alzado is the reason why the NFL has a rule saying that you can’t rip off an opponents helmet and beat him to death with it.

Suh wants to go to a big media market where he can make more money off the field. With any luck, an LA team will be announced before he makes his decision.

  13. Love me some Bill.

That said… when he gives you a compliment, you double check that your wallet is still in your pocket and that you’re wife is still at home.

    captain misdirection strikes again.

Sack total’s dont come into account for pressure on run plays, or near sacks. Maybe the pocket is shifting to him everytime and that makes it easier for someone else on the opposite side to get more sacks. Isn’t it still his ability that helps you get more sacks.
