Bengals add linebacker Chris Carter

AP

With the Bengals and Steelers facing off for the first time this season, the Bengals have added a guy who may be able to help them prepare to face their Ohio River rivals.

The Bengals have announced that linebacker Chris Carter has signed a one-year deal with the team.  Carter, a fifth-round pick of the Steelers in 2011, spent three years in Pittsburgh.

Waived by the Steelers after the preseason, he spent a month with the Colts before being released.  Carter appeared in 29 games for Pittsburgh, with six starts.

The 8-3-1 Bengals play the 7-5 Steelers twice over the final four weeks of the regular season.

  1. lol carter was mostly special teams. hes not a real nfl linebacker. he mostly was a 3rd string backup! all I have to say is if the red pop gun outduels big ben and mavin lewis outcoaches mike tomlin, the steelers should hang their heads in shame! cause we all know the bungles are going absolutely nowhere come playoff time! the Pittsburgh pirates have won a postseason baseball game more recently than the bungles have won a playoff game, and the pirates didn’t make the playoffs for 20 years!!! #dropsthemic

  2. You mean desperate to resupply an open roster spot replacing their leading special teams tackler (LB Jason DiManche) who unfortunately just went on IR following a broken forearm sustained in the 4th quarter just last week vs Tampa Bay?

  3. That Bungle smoke and mirrors operation is running on fumes… Where’s all that talent and depth? Signing re-treads at Tackle and Linebacker doesn’t bode well for them. Dalton in a big game means a loss is coming. Another beat down in Cleveland coming next week. North is far from over. #Whoweredey!

  4. Vontaze Burfict is gearing up to return this week, and you want to pretend that Carter was signed to be a starter? That’s so cute…

Based on your teams recent performances against the leagues worst teams, this doesn’t look like much of a task! This years Steelers are worst than last years Browns! #Sucks!

  6. @cincyalldaway….. just make sure you are here for post game reactions!!! you better hope the bad steelers show up! cause if its the good steelers be ready for a royal beatdown!

bigben, you realize the Steelers haven’t made the playoffs in the last 3 seasons, right? That means the Pirates have won a post season game more recently than the Steelers too….

Report comment. hey, why is a Bungal fan talking about their fear it’s not even January yet…I know ..practice…I’m talking practice.

  9. Big Jen is all ready set up with his wittle hurt hand built in excuse. If the Stillers somehow survive the Jungle with a Win, He will be a hero, and if they get beat down, then it was his wittle hand.

  10. bigben, you realize the Steelers haven’t made the playoffs in the last 3 seasons, right? That means the Pirates have won a post season game more recently than the Steelers too…. INCORRECT….. steelers to date have missed 2 years of playoffs… 2012, 2013…..2011 we were tebowed….. don’t let facts get in your way!!

  11. Where will all the Steeler dorks be Monday, after Cincy essentially knocks them out of the playoffs for the third time in five years?

History means nothing. How good is your team now? As dismal as the Bengals post season record has been lately, at least they’ve been there? Pittsburgh is growing accustomed to watching the playoffs at home, as opposed to actually participating in them.

This is funny. If you had a history that included some…..or should I say a Lombardi…you wouldn’t have made that moronic comment that history means nothing. Going to the playoffs and not winning is like going to the prom with the ugliest girl….ya it’s going but you get tired of hearing about the ugly date.

  13. The Steelers are 4 & 2 against the Dalton lead Bengals their three 1 & done playoff seasons. The Steelers will be prepared to face Dalton like always. 3 straight playoff appearances have their fans beating their chest when the Steelers have SB champions on their team & been owned in their history against the Steelers..

  14. Since your own criteria is “winning a playoff game” & “getting Tebowed” = a 2o11 stiller playoff loss (fact), you just seem bent on proving what exactly here?

The Pirates won their wildcard game in 2013, btw …

  15. NCWhoDey, Steelers are currently 2 years removed from the playoffs, 3 season from the last playoff win, a win in the 2010-11 AFC Championship game. The last time the Bengals won a playoff game was a 1990 wildcard game against the Oilers. Side note, Ben is something like 18-2 playing against Ohio.

  16. Pooflingingmonkey, the Bengals have not eliminated the Steelers from playoff contention 3 times in 5 years. Not sure about 2 of the times your referring to, but I would bet it was only 1 time. The third time you think they eliminated them, last year, it was not the Bengals that put the final nail in the coffin. The final nail goes to the refs in the KC-SD game with 3 blown calls that led to a Chargers win. If the right calls were made, Pittsburgh would’ve been the one to knock the Bengals out of the first round of the playoffs, not the Chargers.

  17. Now there’s a guy that will help you get to the big one lol. Gotta give Marvin Lewis some credit for trying to steal an ex steeler to dig for information before his two biggest games of the year.

  18. History means nothing. How good is your team now? As dismal as the Bengals post season record has been lately, at least they’ve been there? Pittsburgh is growing accustomed to watching the playoffs at home, as opposed to actually participating in them.

History means everything….Well unless your a bungle fan whose never won anything. How good are the steelers? Looks to me that they are currently as good as the bungles. Lets not talk about the 6-0 superbowl lead. The last couple years the steelers were accustomed to sitting at home watching the playoffs. Right next to the bungles a week after the regular season ending. You can bet the steelers will be back in the big game and win it before the bungles win a playoff game.

  19. All those claiming the Steelers aren’t very good are doing so in support of a player who wasn’t good enough to make their roster. If he were even a better special teams player, he’d still have a job with the Colts. There’s a reason why anyone you sign off the streets was there in the first place, and any Bengals fans with dreams of glory should wake up before they start typing.

    Go Steelers!

  20. Drives me crazy seeing Bengals fans (yes and I’m a Bengals fan) in here talking stuff to Steelers fans. Our record sucks against them. We beat them once last year and that’s only because Pitt played worse than us. We played awful that game. I don’t think we have the room to be talking stuff to Steelers fans considering they always play up against no matter how the rest of their season has gone. Just because we have a better record doesn’t mean we are going to dominate by any means.

  21. I don’t know why I’m bothering but he was signed to replace Jayson Dimance, who was a special teamer for us and broke his arm recently. It’s not like you get cream of the crop this late in the season.
