The 49ers don’t have a chance to make the playoffs, but they added some experience to the lineup anyway.
The team announced they signed veteran linebacker Desmond Bishop to a one-year deal (which means the next two weeks).
To make room for him on the roster, special teamer Kassim Osgood was placed on injured reserve.
The 49ers were desperately thin at inside linebacker anyway, with Patrick Willis and NaVorro Bowman on injured reserve. But when promising rookie Chris Borland suffered an ankle injury last week, they were down to just two healthy players at the position.
Bishop was with the Cardinals this season, but was released two weeks ago. He spent a year in Minnesota after his six-year stint with the Packers.
