Bears, Vikings quietly finishing out their seasons

AP

Like golfers trying to squeeze in nine holes before work, Sunday’s Bears-Vikings game is moving quickly along, with Chicago edging to a 6-3 early third-quarter lead.

Both clubs traded field goals in the first half, with Minnesota’s Blair Walsh hitting a 37-yarder and Chicago’s Jay Feely connecting from 48 yards.

Three plays ruled touchdowns on the field — catches by Minnesota’s Greg Jennings and Chicago’s Alshon Jeffery and an interception by Chicago’s Kyle Fuller — have been overturned upon review.

Chicago’s Matt Forte (12 carries, 44 yards) has exceeded 1,000 rushing yards for the second consecutive season.

  2. For the first time, thepftpoet might just be on to something…….

Bridgewater is in the mix for ROY

Within a couple years, the Vikings will be legitimate playoff contenders….possibly as soon as next year

The Vikings will be the first team to host/play in the Super Bowl

Look out Green Bay…..your time on top is quickly coming to a close

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Vikings are BACK!

  3. “Teddy Two Pick” with another interception.

73% completion rate the last 4 games. yep he’s horrible

  5. They’ve put up 3 pts and that means they’ll be the first team to host the SB? Wow. And ROY for TB? Cmon man you guys are just goofing on us, right?

  6. If the Vikings lose this game there will be many Packer fans getting a second serving of poutine after the game to celebrate. It seems that a Viking lose means as much as a Packer victory to Packer fans.

  7. Yep “Teddy Two Pick” he is horrible. You cant count completions to the other team in the stats, with his 49 qb rating and more turnovers than td’s he is lighting it up. The next purple Jesus, man you guys are delusional.

  8. At least the Vikings have an excuse for being here. They had the AP fiasco and they have a rookie QB leading them.

The Bears though? The Bears have a RB QB and WR in their primes making big money, and a second young WR that also looks amazing. They have no freaking business being so bad. And yet here they are.

  9. If you’re the future of ANYTHING, you should be putting up more than 2 FG’s against this Bear defense, particularly the last week of the season before they go scorched earth on their personnel.

If your QB can’t hang at least 21 on this team – he’s not a good QB.

led the league the last 4 weeks in comp percentage. closing in on 3k yards yep hes horrid

  11. Where’s David Fales at QB? Cutler is showing nothing (again), there’s no point of him being in there. Let see what the Bears may have in Fales!

  12. The past four weeks,Teddy Bridgewater has hit 65.4 percent of his throws of at least 10 yards, which is the highest completion percentage in the league over that stretch. His completion percentage when throwing at least 15 yards also leads the league, and it’s even more impressive — 76.5 percent. And 20-plus yards? Bridgewater’s completion percentage is tops in the league there too — he’s gone 6-for-9 on such throws for 190 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

Some of you fans must be 8 years old. There isn’t a QB in the NFL with more upside right now than Teddy. He will own the North for years…..

If back means under .500, then yes, the Vikings are back.

What does back mean for the Vikings, anyways? Losing NFC Championships and Super Bowls.

I suppose they have to worry about getting a winning record and making the playoffs before they do any of those things.

You sir are correct. Vikings will be cleaning out their temporary home and moving into the brand new stadium as all of this young talent comes together with perfect timing.

    Pervy circa 2011:

“Some of you fans must be 8 years old. There isn’t a QB in the NFL with more upside right now than Christian Ponder. He will own the North for years…..”

  16. Analysis from a clear-eyed fan of neither team; Vikings will continue their longstanding run of optimistic mediocrity, the Bears are like a trainwreck carrying a dumpster fire cargo on the Titanic.

  17. You think with how AMAZING Theodore is, he would know that the secondary of the Bears should be challenged more.

From the looks of things, he isn’t doing a whole lot of it today either. I know he is young and can improve, but the next time a game manager wins the MVP, will be the first.

Teddy is certainly showing the NFC North who is boss today against the Bears. 209 yards against the Bears, with 1 TD and 1 INT. The Bears have the 31st ranked pass defense in the league, and the 32nd overall ranked defense in giving up points, and the Vikings have put up a whole 13 points against the Bears. The Bears have several starters on defense not playing due to injury. Yet, playing against the worst defense in the league, without several starters, the Vikings can only muster 1 TD and 2 field goals.

So yeah, the Vikings will own the North for years. You keep cherry picking, QB stats, pervy, and we will keep watching what is actually happening on the field. Today, Teddy Bridgewater is merely below average to average against the worst defense in the league.

So what you’re telling us, Pervy, is that Bridgewater throws over 20 yards less than 1 time per game. In fact, he has only thrown over 20 yards 9 times this season, and completed only 6, according to your stats. My guess is that every other QB in the league goes downfield more than he does. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Essentially, if someone is wide open, he’ll go downfield. Otherwise, he is scared to. That’s what those stats tell me.

  19. 13 points put up by the Vikings at home against the worst defense in the NFL. Yup, they’re back!!

  20. Wow you Vikes fans are really something. The only NFC North team you beat this year is the Bears and that was an unimpressive once. The same Bears that you guys just handed a higher draft choice to. The same Bears that couldn’t get out of their own way on and off the field. And constantly throughout the year you bagged on the Packers and their fans. This Bears fan would love to be in the position the Pack are in. I know it’s fun and cute to make fun of other teams, but you finished the season 2nd to last in the division, what on Earth is so impressive about that? At no point this season did anyone with any type of real logic think this a team of the future in the NFC North.

Unlike your bears, the Vikings are on the rise. Teddy Bridgewater is already better than Stafford and Cutler. He has posted a higher average passer rating than Rodgers the last 5 weeks. And you know how important the QB position is…

Besides the birth of our elite offense, we have a shutdown corner in rhodes to anchor our elite defense. Rhodes, Smith, and Griffin make sherman, chancellor, and thomas look like highschoolers.

If we don’t go 16-0 next year I will be shocked.

  22. LMAO, Bear fans keep saying that they have dropped to as low as the Vikings. I just pulled up some stats and from 1994 to present Vikings have been to 10 playoffs while the Bears have been to just 5, which one was a Superbowl fail. So who is really lower than who? Plus, you made the playoffs in 2010 we made it in 2012. Yea exactly!

  23. It was great watching Bears fans this season, it started with such high hopes, Super Bowl, Cutler MVP, and it ended with a dumpster fire. Pure Chicago Bears.

  24. Vikings fan here. Please don’t judge us by our worst so called “fans.”

The win yesterday was not much a win at all, but it was something. Teddy has a ways to go, but he gives us hope. It even took Rodgers 2009 until he really got going.

Hope is all a Vikings fan has, lol! If I didn’t have hope, I’d cry!
