NFL announces 2015 opponents

AP

Though the 2014 season is not yet at a close, we know each club’s opponents for 2015.

The NFL released the list of home-and-away games for all 32 teams on Monday. Dates and times for the games will likely be announced in the spring, when the league typically releases its schedule.

Per NFL rules, six of each club’s games are against divisional opponents. Four other games are against another division in the same conference. Another four games are against one out-of-conference division. The final two games are against conference opponents who finished in the same spot in their respective divisions. For example, the AFC East-winning Patriots will play against the Broncos (AFC West champions) and Steelers (AFC North winners).

Per the NFL, here’s the 2015 scheduling rotation:

NFC foe: NFC East.

AFC North

  1. No 18-game seasons. No expanded playoffs. Right now what the NFL does it perfect.

    Therefore, it must be changed.

  2. Nfl does it perfect?

A 7-8-1 team gets into the playoffs, and gets to host a playoff game, while a 10-6 team is left out completely???????

Doesn’t sound perfect to me, it sounds effed up !

  3. Crappy record or not if you win your division that team should go to playoffs but adding teams next year will help… FINALLY!!! Goodell is too busy trying to send team to foreign ountrie that don’t give a crap about AMERICAN Football!!!

  4. Fire Philbin?? Idiot KillerFin Ask Bear fans what happens when you get rid of a good coach. You can and most times do worse. Philbin is doing great job with little talent. Before spouting, look at your roster. Average at best.

  5. AP back. Vikes will be in the playoffs or in the hunt at week 17. Like it or not, 7-9 with what they went through is a great season. Coming on strong.

I have to agree with this. Something needs to change. I personally am a fan of the 6 best teams in the conference going into the playoffs. I don’t see why a losing team should make it just because they were the best of the worst in a terrible division. If an entire division isn’t good enough to make it too the playoffs than I guess your division doesn’t get represented! At the very least they certainly shouldn’t get to host a game at home. Before you thumbs down my post if you don’t agree just remember this… it also affects the draft. The 10-6 Eagles will be picking before the 7-8-1 Panthers because the Panthers made it to the playoffs. Makes no sense as I believe the Panthers need more help than the Eagles do and their record reflects that. Something needs to change! Just my 2 cents…

  7. Its asinine to say “if you win your division”, you should go to the playoffs.
A losing record team, hosting a playoff game while a 10-6 or 11-5 team is left out is just ridiculous.
That team didn’t “win” their division, there was just 3 other teams more pathetic than them in the division.
Eliminate division “titles” and seed strictly by the top 6 teams, by record, in the conference.

I have hated this for years

  8. The unbalanced schedule causes problems when used to determine wild card teams. Thankfully there’s an easy fix.

Require that wild card teams have to finish in 2nd place in their division. That will reverse some of the bias caused by the unbalanced schedule when comparing teams from different divisions.

If you are going to structure your schedule around the divisions, then you must also factor in where a team finishes in it’s division when determining playoff teams.

  9. Behold! The NFC south: only division in football weaker than the AFC south. And thus them that donned the Colt blue and white whipped each other in thine butts with sweaty jerseys and wet towels. For they saw before them a 12 win season!

  10. So what you are saying is the Bucs have slim to none chance at winning at least 4 games in 2015… Well, Lovie is still their HC so that is most likely the outcome!

Teams that win their division don’t have that problem. The NFL has it right. They don’t need to tweak this or that.

The Eagles didn’t have to even win their division, if they would have beat the Cardinals.

  12. AFC North had the easiest schedule of anyone this year (that’s why three teams are in the playoffs). They played the AFC and NFC South. So, I don’t feel too badly for them.

Brady vs Manning every year really makes the rivalry lose some of it’s luster.

That’s exactly what makes it a great rivalry. It’s also why Joe Montana and Dan Marino had NO rivalry.

  14. Gotta wonder about the “unfair” comments here. How can one compare a 10-6 team in one division with a 6-10 team in another. Completely different schedule. Even trying to compare teams in a division is not trivial. Would GB have won the same number of games if they had to play NE and the Jets away from home? Comparisons made simply by record is foolish

  15. For those of you complaining about Carolina getting in over Philadelphia….It happens….the rules say win your division. Carolina did…Philadelphia didn’t…..But just remember, Carolina has to host Green Bay and travel to Seattle whereas Philadelphia gets to host Arizona and travel to Detroit…So there is a price to pay for being a division winner even if you have a worse record than a second place in another division….like drafting later. Everyone is whining about Philadelphia missing out, but no one is saying anything about Houston, San Diego, Kansas City, San Francisco, Buffalo or Miami being left out and they too had better records than Carolina…..BTW, Seattle had a WORSE record as a division winner than Carolina, and they still won a playoff game.

Well good thing for the double digit road team they playing @ a sub .500 team. The road team should be able to handle them.

Absolving division titles is an awful idea and makes rivalries meaningless. So instead of an NFC post season race coming down to the final Sunday?

The NFC would have been determined, at Thanksgiving or just after that with Sea. Dal. GB. Det. Phi. and Ari. So you want to see a month of teams jockeying for SEEDING?

    No thanks.

  17. AFC North doesn’t benefit from playing the two worst divisions in the NFL again. Only one team getting in from that division next year.

Meanwhile it looks like the AFC East and South have it relatively easy next year. Look for Buffalo or Houston to take at least one of the wild card spots next year.

  18. This is what happens when Brady and Manning led teams have been so dominant at winning their divisions, they end up playing eachother and other division winners each year.
