When the Jets were looking for a general manager two years ago, they asked the Ravens for permission to interview executive Eric DeCosta.
DeCosta declined the opportunity to interview for the job, taking a promotion to assistant general manager under Ozzie Newsome in Baltimore instead. That turn of events isn’t stopping the Jets from barking up the same tree now that they are back in the market for a G.M. after firing John Idzik.
Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports that the Jets have submitted another request to interview DeCosta.
There’s no word on whether DeCosta will take the interview this time, but it wouldn’t be surprising if he again turned down the Jets’ overture. DeCosta has been with the Ravens organization since the team came into existence and is seen as the next general manager in Baltimore whenever Newsome decides to end his long run as the man with his hand on the steering wheel.
