Terrelle Pryor working out for Chiefs as a quarterback

AP

Terrelle Pryor didn’t land a job for the 2014 season after being cut by the Seahawks at the end of preseason, but he’s not giving up the quest to continue his NFL career.

PFT has learned, via a league source, that Pryor is working out for the Chiefs on Wednesday. Pryor is working out as a quarterback only, which wasn’t always the case for Pryor when he met with teams during the regular season.

Some teams looked at Pryor as a wide receiver in hopes of figuring out a way to get a player with plenty of athletic ability on the field in a position where his shortcomings as a passer wouldn’t be a hindrance.

No one bit during the year, but Pryor’s chances of finding work may be better heading into an offseason that gives coaches more time to work with him than they would have had with the season already underway. That might not translate to a spot on a 53-man roster, but it’s a step Pryor has to take if he’s ever going to land on another one.

  1. Cardinals should have signed him after Stanton went down. Anyone would have been better than Lindley.

  2. Seahawks fan here wishing him the best. If he can stay calm & relaxed while on the field he’ll do a lot for a team, he has the skill set.

  3. He was a star B-Ball player in high school. I still contend he could be great in a Jimmy Graham type role…no real blocking but jump balls and beating LB’s with athleticism.

  4. I’m wondering where “unemployed and not ryan Lindley” lies on the scale in relation to “unemployed…in GREENLAND!”

  5. First Heisman winning quarterback Troy Smith now Pryor. What more evidence do you need that Ohio state university cannot produce an NFL quarterback?

  6. They have three now…..Is your team getting ready to play in national championship?

Why the Cards didn’t kick his tires I have no idea.

Arians’ ego won’t him sign a running QB. He must have a non-mobile gunslinger that knows the offense well…. otherwise it doesn’t matter how good/bad the QB is. If Betty White knew the offense, she’d get a tryout over Pryor.

  8. Pryor deserves another shot. I liked him on the Raiders and I liked McGloin who needs another chance too. Some times it is just a flash in the pan but guys like Pryor are better than guys like Lindley since he’s been mentioned here. I mean teams need good qbs and need depth at that position. He should be at least a third stringer somewhere…

  9. It certainly cant hurt signing him. Chiefs will have plenty of picks this draft(minus the 2nd rounder) and will go after WRs, OL, and DBs. Let Murray and Pryor battle for the backup spot, then give them some action throghout the season. Come 2016 , get rid of Smith and turn the keys to the Super Bowl train over to Murray or Pryor

  10. Can we please drop the “as a Quarterback” garbage. Both he and his coaches have said that he can’t catch a football to save his life. He has as much interest in playing TE/WR as he does being a place kicker.

  11. Good luck to the kid. He’s pursuing his dream. What NFL dreams are the hater’s pursuing? That’s what I thought.

Um, pretty sure KC has a 2nd round pick in the upcoming draft.

  13. How can Bruce Arians be seriously considered for Coach of the Year when he insisted on going with Ryan Lindley to screw up and throw away the potential Super Bowl season the Cards had worked for and accomplished when Arians and GM Keim left proven QBs like Rex Grossman, Pryor, and others with successful playing experience and proven track record of reading defenses and accurately making passes sit at home while the two “geniuses” wasted and arrogantly threw away a winning record and the potential to win the NFC West and keep home field advantage throughout the playoffs?

I wonder if the Bidwills know now that they and their fans got cheated and given lots of snake oil as the proof is in the fact the Cards have been kicked out of the playoffs and disbanded for the season.

BTW, bye Fitz – hope you find a team who knows how to use your talents instead using you as a stupid decoy just so Arians can prove he is so smart and an offensive genius. When Keim says he has your number locked in, he means he is going to ask you for a home team discount while they will still misuse you as the decoy so lesser receivers can catch the ball.

  14. I find it funny that he can’t make it in the NFL as a QB yet some many on here think he can. I guess now I know why you guys don’t have a job as a coach in the NFL.

Somehow I don’t believe that you realise that staying calm and relaxed on the field are 2 of the most important skills in a NFL QBs skill set. They are also the 2 skills most difficult, if not impossible, to teach. Therefore, he does not in fact, have the skill set to play QB in the NFL.

If that were the case, how do you explain Alex Smith? I’ve never seen a more nervous coward on a football field in my life. Yet, here he is, playing QB (although not very well) in the NFL.

Exactly. Like so many others before and after him, he’s physically gifted, but mentally incompetent.

  18. If you could graft Kellen Moore’s head onto Pryor’s body he might be pretty good. If he could catch the ball he might be willing to try a different position.
