Justin Britt questionable for NFC title game

The Seahawks won’t know who’s starting at right tackle for them on Sunday until Sunday.

Coach Pete Carroll said Friday that right tackle Justin Britt will be a game-time decision for the NFC Championship game against the Packers. Britt is dealing with a knee injury that caused him to miss practice on Wednesday. Britt was a full participant on Thursday and a limited participant Friday, which would seem to bode well for his ultimate chances of playing.

Carroll said that if Britt isn’t able to play, Alvin Bailey would start on the right side of the offensive line.

Safety Jeron Johnson is also questionable as he recovers from a dislocated elbow. Tight end Tony Moeaki is also probable after missing last week’s game with a calf injury.

Center Max Unger (ankle), defensive tackle Tony McDaniel (shoulder) and cornerback Tharold Simon (illness) are also listed as probable ahead of Seattle’s attempt for a second straight trip to the Super Bowl.

  1. I watched Alvin Bailey fill in for Okung at LT a few times over the last couple of years and he has done a solid job. Bailey may be an upgrade at RT.

Justin Britt is still so raw when Okung got healthy I was hoping Bailey would take his role. Britt gets rag dolled in pass protection and lets too many free rushers at Wilson for my liking. Give him credit on some top tier run blocking when he is on his game.

  2. thebirdofprey2: I was feeling the same way about Bailey vs. Okung. Bailey is competing for a starting role and has something to prove. Okung has become an injury-and-penalty-prone head case.

  3. Britt has improved but I agree, he used to get smoked off the line and is not too good at pass protection. He needs to be 100 % and bring his A game if hes able to play

  4. The Seahawks played the following QBs in the 2nd half of the season (in reverse order): Cam Newton, Shaun Hill, Ryan Lindsay, Kapernack, Mark Sanchez, Kap, Drew Stanton, Alex Smith (who beat them). Hardly a murderers row of QBs/offenses.

They faced the following “elite” QBs: Rodgers (win), Rivers (loss), Payton (win) Romo (loss – in Seattle).

    Don’t sell GB short.

  5. GB fans talking about schedules?

The combined record of GB opponents was far under .500.

And on the road you were still 4-4.

Don’t talk “opponents” to make your case, it only makes you sound dumb.

  6. The Packers or their fans aren’t the ones running around pounding their chest about being the greatest Defense ever.

They want to talk about how their Defese cuz the to say they clobbered a few teams…

After September can you name 1 QB wasn’t struggling big time or playing, because of injury when Seattle showed up… Seattles Defense is VERY good… those offenses made a LOT of teams look good.

You want to just pretend you didn’t lose to teams like the Rams Chiefs or Cowboys…. or the team didn’t win all that impressively over the Panthers or an awful Raiders team? I don’t think those teams are better than GB.

    The Seahawks can be beat.

You lost to Buffalo when it mattered and put up 20 on TB. Worry about your team, you’ll need it.

How did St Louis do in Seattle?

    How about that first half?

    ****************

No, they run around pounding their chests about how Aaron Rodgers is the best quarterback in the league and whining about the “Fail Mary”.

  9. Seattle beat St Louis in Seattle. That’s the same St. Louis team who beat up Denver and who essentially scored as many on TB as the almighty Pack did.

Thanks for playing but you lose.

    They lost 20-6…so…

    Go Hawks

  11. Britt will have 8 months to get well after his season ends Sunday. Seahawks fans will have that long to realize how the one-year dynasty crumbled. Then watch how their depth dwindles after the have to pay their QB.

  12. Well to be fair his interception in the first game came off of a tipped pass that jordy nelson dropped and the Packers flat out dropped 3 Russell Wilson interceptions, that won’t happen again. The Packers also have a healthy offensive line with an entire season of practice under their belts. And Bryan Bulaga is literally a mile ahead of Derek Sherrod in talent. And he is one of our better run blockers. Not to mention we have a clear upgrade at WR over Jarret Boykin and we have valid contributors in Andrew Quarles who make big plays when they need to. Seattle will have their hands full with the Packers offense. They better watch out.

  13. d the Packers flat out dropped 3 Russell Wilson interceptions, that won’t happen again
    ==========

Yes and Lacey would have rushed for 300 yards if he hadn’t allowed Seattle to tackle him, that won’t happen again.

And the Packers wouldn’t have allowed Seattle to score if Seattle hadn’t kept carrying the ball into the end zone and kicking FGs, that won’t happen again.

    LOL

If you look at QB rating for anyone who has started over a 100 games in the NFL. Rodgers is the best QB in the league.

Some people are still scorned by the Fail Mary… the part that irks me about yet is classless manner that Carroll handled the win… which then seem to trickle down through out the rest of the season to nearly every player not named Russell Wilson.

    ==========================

The score at halftime doesn’t mean anything. The end result was that they contributed to Russell Wilson’s 25-2 record at home.

  16. Only the Texans and Browns have faced a weaker collection of QBs since Week 7. That’s the foundation for the faux resurgence of Seattles defense. The fall is one day away. Be prepared Seattle….you can make alternate plans for February 1 because watching it is going to be bitter.

  17. It seems everyone wants to talk about who Seattle played in this article.

In three road games against top 10 defenses, Green Bay scored 16 points, 7 points, and 13 points. That last total was last month against the Buffalo Bills, and if their offense had done a better job, tomorrow’s game would be in Green Bay instead of Seattle.

Speaking of which, the weather forecast for Seattle tomorrow is for winds of 25-30 mph at kickoff. Should be a lot of fun for a high-flying passing attack.

  18. Here’s the QBs GB has faced on the road during their self proclaimed defensive resurgence.

Drew Brees – they gave up 44 and lost by 23
    T. Bridgewater – rookie – they gave up 21 and won by 3.
Kyle Orton – career backup – they gave up21 and lost by 8 though the Erin did throw a pick 6.
Josh McCown – is he even in the NFL? – they only gave up 3 and won by 17.

The teams and QBs they played were 25-39 and they were outscored 80-89 while going 2-2.

Those offenses averaged 21. The only one higher than Seattle was NO scoring 44 on them,

Those defenses averaged 18.5. No defense’s higher than Seattle.

    Rodgers is hurt.

    Yeah. Looks good for GB.

  19. I would say this game is the real SB just like last year except GB can’t win away from Lamebeau.

They are a terrible road team and would likely get lit by the Pats.

    Won’t matter though.

    Hawks vs Pats SB.

  20. NFL Postseason highest QB ratings in history, including the 2014-2015 season to date:

    1. Russell Wilson – 109.6

    2. Aaron Rodgers – 105.3

    May the best man-team WIN!

    Go Hawks!!

After the Brees game that is when GBs started playing much better.

The Packers defense didn’t give up 21 to to Orton, they gave up 12, as the Only TD came on a punt return for them, and the Bills ALSO had a Safety. There was No Pick 6.

So the other games you are referencing GB Defense gave up 12 PPG.

GB has given up 21 points once since Halloween a game they were up so big by half time the Defense came out flat in the 2nd half. Don’t expect that tomorrow. Whether its against Josh McCown or HOFer Brady. Heck even the last 2 games GB has seen better QB talent than the Seahawks have since October 1st.

If the Packers score more than 25 points tomorrow they should win.

  22. Yeah, Pack average 12 point vs top 10 defenses.

Now they face #1 in the biggest home field advantage in the NFL, with Capt Ahab at QB, and they’ll score 25.

When Seattle puts up 36 on GB, AGAIN, we will win.

  23. This isn’t the same team from week one neither is Seattle. I am not saying GB WILL win. It will be closer than you think. GB has a better chance than anyone is wiling to give them.

  24. I doubt whether anyone on either team wants this game more than Julius Peppers does. And I won’t be surprised if he comes through with a big play or two.
And to be honest, I don’t like the Pack’s chances unless their defense CAN come up with a couple of takeaways.

  25. I’m so sick of all this talk of of the Hawks winning the Super Bowl like it’s just a fore gone conclusion. F the 12th man and Richard punk Sherman and the biggest tool in the NFL Pete Carroll. I thought the pack were underdogs with a hurt rodgers, but screw it. Pack wins this game. I guarantee it! There I said it

  26. Pack were dogs with or without an injured Rodgers.

Y’all sound just like Denver fans before the SB last year.

You’re one of the worst road teams in the NFL.

    Hawks win and likely big.

You might want to check out a guy named Russell Wilson.

    Go Hawks

  29. Look at it this way:

The seahawks take performance enhancing drugs. They have a long history of it, and Pete Carroll has a long history of cheating, which he learned from his buddy Belichick.

Seahawks fans didn’t exist before a few years ago, and they STILL pump in sound (as they have since their inception) to make it sound like they’re louder than they really are.

There is nothing real about this franchise.

    At all.
