PFT’s Conference Championship picks

AP

I knew my only shot at catching MDS in our 11-game postseason picks contest would be to take the upsets this weekend — and hope for two of the bigger conference-title-game upsets in recent history.  But then I remembered that:  (1) it’s still more important to get the picks right; and (2) I picked the Patriots and Seahawks to make it to the Super Bowl back in September.

So I stuck with the favorites, even though I knew MDS would.

Did I mention the reasoning simply for the ability to point out that I’d picked the Patriots and Seahawks to make it to the Super Bowl back in September?  Perhaps.

Last week, MDS and yours truly both went 3-1 in the divisional round, and I should get extra credit for picking the Colts to beat the Broncos.  (That mention definitely was gratuitous.)

Through two weeks of postseason play, MDS has gone 7-1, and I’m 5-3.

Packers at Seahawks

MDS’s take: The Seahawks are the best team in the NFL. They were the best team in the NFL a year ago, they were the best team in the NFL when they spanked the Packers in Week One, and they’re the best team in the NFL today.

So do the Packers have any chance? Sure. When you have the best quarterback in the NFL, as the Packers do, you always have a chance to put a lot of points on the board. I’m not going to say Aaron Rodgers can’t have a big game, I’m just saying that if there’s one defense that can shut Rodgers down, it’s Seattle’s.

And let’s not overlook Russell Wilson, who in last week’s win over Carolina had a passer rating of 149.2, the highest for any quarterback in a playoff game in the last five years. Even if Rodgers has a big game, the Seahawks’ offense might have a big game, too.

And so I’m taking Seattle, and taking Seattle comfortably. The best team in the NFL will return to the Super Bowl.

MDS’s pick: Seahawks 28, Packers 17.

Florio’s take:  Way back in September, the Seahawks raised their first championship banner and then dismantled the Packers, winning by 20.  This time around, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (who chased the R-E-L-A-X moment with an M-V-P season) is playing on a pogo stick, thanks to an injured calf that has limited his uncanny mobility.  While that could be balanced out by a willingness to throw at cornerback Richard Sherman’s side of the field (unlike the first time around), it can’t be enough to overcome one of the best defenses of the past generation in a place where it becomes harder and harder to win as the stakes get higher and higher.

Florio’s pick:  Seahawks 24, Packers 16.

Colts at Patriots

MDS’s take: Last week Andrew Luck took his first step toward establishing a changing of the guard in the AFC by dethroning Peyton Manning. Can Luck do it to Tom Brady this week?

I don’t think so. Luck is a phenomenal quarterback who may out-play Brady on Sunday, but the Colts just don’t have the personnel elsewhere to keep pace with the Patriots. The Patriots’ defense is much better than the Colts’ defense, and the Patriots’ offense can control a game on the ground if it has to, something that the Colts’ offense can’t do.

There may come a time in the near future when Luck has the Colts atop the AFC, but that time is not now. The Patriots will return to the Super Bowl.

MDS’s pick: Patriots 31, Colts 17.

Florio’s take:  Last week, the Patriots managed only 14 rushing yards against Baltimore.  It’s a stark contrast from the 200-plus gained by previously (and since) unknown tailback Jonas Gray against the Colts in November.  So what does it mean for the rematch against Indy?  Probably more running.  Probably from LeGarrette Blount, who has since the regular-season game against the Colts returned to the Patriots and who had 166 yards and four touchdowns against Indy in the postseason a year ago.  While the chess match that routinely occurs during football games could prompt the Pats to flip the game plan to a pass-heavy attack, the safer approach will be to keep running the ball and running the ball and running the ball some more, until the Colts show they can stop the Patriots.  With 367 yards and eight touchdowns from the team’s leading rushers in the last two meetings, there’s no reason for Bill Belichick and company to do anything differently.

Florio’s pick:  Patriots 41, Colts 21.

  1. The thing I’m most looking forward to in the Green Bay-Seattle game is it’s a matchup of the NFL’s two most precious fanbases. One team’s fans think they own the team and the other team’s fans think they actually affect the outcome of the game. They both think they’re better than everybody else.

  2. A Patriot – Seahawk SB is must miss TV. No one wants to hear about Brady and how the NFL changes rules to favor him or hear about his cheating coach. Peter Carrol is crybaby who left USC in a bad way and Richard Sherman is a classless scumbag, who epitomizes what is wrong with sports in the USA.

  3. I can’t wait for the Packers to win and the national media is finally forced to give them credit for being a great team.

  4. Luck, Rodgers, Brady, and Wilson going at it while Peyton consoles himself by selling extra pizzas to their fans. It’s perfect.

  5. And viking fans keep thinking that the following year will be their year and the Packers will finish where the vikings always finish, in the basement.

  6. I think it is safe to say that if the Patriots win and get to the Superbowl… TV ratings for PA, MD, NJ, and NY will be at an all time low.

    Success breeds contempt!!!

  7. If it ends up being the Pats-Seahawks, like both of you, and myself and many others predict, and I fear- then I am not watching the superbowl this year. I don’t want either of those teams to win.

  8. I wouldn’t sleep on the Colts. I was shocked that anyone thought Denver would win last week.

The Ravens had the most pathetic secondary in the league and the Patriots barely won and passed more than 80% of plays, gimicks included. Should be interesting.

I wouldn’t be surprised if either team won that game, but I think we might be watching the official rise of Andrew Luck.

  9. I feel like Luck should have gained a lot of confindence, overcoming one of the last generations greats. That might make it closer than most people think the AFCCG is going to go.

I just can’t see the Seahawks losing at home to an limited mobility Rodgers. I think this game will be decided by less than 3 points though.

  10. Hawks beat the best NFL QB in Rodgers this week.

Then in 2 weeks, Hawks take down, arguably, the greatest QB in NFL history, tom brady.

After the SB dismantling, Seattle would’vebeaten Peyton Manning and Tom Brady in back to back SB’s.

Further cementing their place in the greatest all time teams and Defenses categories. Much to the dismay of hawk haters but reality is what it is.

  11. Thanks for taking the pressure off Green Bay and Indy while placing it all the two smuggest teams in the NFL.

Let the games begin! Looking forward to the results!

  12. I like Luck and the Colts for the upset… Coby Fleener and Dewayne Allen are the Keys to success… Dewayne didn’t play the first game which led to Revis covering Reggie Wayne… look for Billichick to put Revis on T.Y. Hilton becuse of match up issues with either Coby or Dewayne… Indeed…

  13. Not sure how the pack can stop the Seahawks right now. I agree with any given Sunday and if this was in GB I would be worried. But it is not and I have my Super Bowl package lined up.

    Seahawks 31
    Packers 12

I think that meeting the Colts would be interesting because maybe we can put a dent in this opinion that Luck walks on water or something. He is an interception machine and it would be fun to see Sherman run a couple back. However, it isn’t going to happen…

    Patriots 35
    Colts 17

  14. Pittsburgh Steelers – 6 rings

  15. As for the Packers I really do not see how they can beat the Seahawks the match up is just terrible for them… But i would like to see Peppers get a ring but I love the Seahawks more… The Superbowl champs will come out of the NFC again though… But if I were AAron the very first play I do not care if he is open or not would be a pass right at Mr. Sherman ( the best corner in the league) just so he would know that it is on… Indeed…

  16. “I’m just saying that if there’s one defense that can shut Rodgers down, it’s Seattle’s.”…

I’m just saying that if there are two defenses that can shut Rodgers down, they are Seattle and BUFFALO.

    Fixed it!

  17. I don’t know why people forget that just two games ago this seahawks team was shut down in the first half by the all powerful St. Louis Rams. At home.

Shut down. By the rams. At home. Then their offense scored a whopping 13 points.

People are looking at one game against the Panthers and saying that this is the best team in the NFL?

A gimpy rodgers is still better than Cam Newton, the Packers defense is better than the Panthers, and so is their running game.

The packers can and will win.

  18. When you’re down by 14 twice in the same game, you don’t spend a lot of time running the ball. 9 attempts against t Ravens because they were losing. If they can stay on top of the Colts, they’ll run it more and have success. More balance this week from the Pats

Hey, I thought the other day that somebody mentioned that the Vikes have lost more playoff games than any other team… Including teams that have been in the league 40 years longer than the Vikes? Impressive. #losers

  20. I’m a Packers fan and on paper, I think the Seahawks are the best team in football. They are also the defending champs. So — congratulations to them on another great season.
If I listened to what many people are saying, the Packers shouldn’t even travel to Seattle because the Seahawks are just going to demolish them. The NFL should just hand them the Lombardi Trophy and call it a day, because those same people will say that neither the Pats or Colts have a chance, either.
Well, maybe they will demolish the Packers. But this much I know. The Packers were the #2 seed in the NFC because all the other teams didn’t do better than they did during the season. And they are in this game because they deserve to be there, in spite of all the short-time-memory Cowboys fans, led by their whiny poster boy Skip Bayless.
To all you fans who are jealous because the Packers have won the most championships in NFL history, and resort to calling Aaron Rodgers names, I say this: at least we are playing in this game while your teams are playing golf somewhere. So chew on that!
Win, lose, or draw, I am proud to be a Packer fan and that I have one share of Packer stock framed and hanging on my wall.
It is a special organization — the most unique in sports. We don’t have a snobby, rich owner like Jerruh Jones or Dan Sndyer. If you’re not a Packer fan, you just wouldn’t understand how special the organization is.
To those of you who don’t resort to name calling and are classy fans who root for other teams — I applaud you. You (we) seem to be a dying breed of fan.
My prediction for the game is that the Packers will do their best. In spite of what some idiots (see Skip Bayless) are saying, Aaron Rodgers does have a tear in his calf muscle, and it does affect his mobility, and at times his passing. But in spite of that, he’ll go out and play as hard as he can and try to win the game. And if the Packers should win it, he won’t pull a Richard Sherman classless tirade in an interview after the game. He’ll be his usual classy self. One thing’s for sure — no matter what happens Packer fans will still be supporting the Packers and appreciate all their hard work this season.
Good luck to the Seahawks, and may the best team win.

  21. When Richard Sherman starts playing both sides of the field then maybe he can be in the discussion. Until then we’ll just keep watching him cover guys like Jarrett Boykin and people will lay claim he’s the best CB. He does have the best Safety tandem helping him look good though. I’d love to see Sherman play on a team with a mediocre pass rush and 2 bum safeties and then we’ll all get a great look on how good Sherman really is……

  22. Absolutely love that both the Colts and Packers get zero love… It’s not like they both came out of a division with Ryan Lindley, Austin Davis, and Colin Kaepernick as the opposition QBs.

  23. Let’s look at the numbers…

    Seattle:
    PPG: 24.6
    Defense (PPG allowed): 15.9
    Interceptions: 13
    Fumbles Rec: 10
    Sacks: 37.0

    Green Bay:
    PPG: 30.4
    Defense (PPG allowed) 21
    Interceptions: 18
    Fumbles Rec: 9
    Sacks: 41.0

Tell me again how bad the Green Bay D is and how amazing the Seahawks are in every phase of the game.

  25. Why anyone seems to think the game in week 1 has any relevance to this game at all is beyond me. With the way training camp is under the current CBA nobody is fully prepared to play their best football in week 1; and more so now than ever teams look completely different at the end of the season than they did at the beginning. It really is like this game is being played by 2 completely different teams than the teams that played that week 1 game.

    =============

Well, you did get lucky when Jordy dropped an 80 yard TD, sooooo……. yeah.

  27. No one gives the packers a chance. That first game was pretty close through the first half. The packers were starting a rookie at center who had a week or so to get ready. Adams was in his first game as was Richard Rodgers and Ha HA. Lacy got hurt in that game, Bulaga was hurt in the game, Brad jones committed two penalties on third down to keep drives alive for seattle.

This game is going to be much closer that people think. Packers had a terrible game plan again seattle the first time around, I don’t foresee them doing the same this time.

I imagine they will have a similar game plan against seattle as they did with the pats. They had Cobb in the backfield more often either running the ball our coming out on wheel routes. Seattle will have a LB on Cobb out of the backfield….There isn’t a LB in the NFL that can keep up with Cobb. The Packers Defense isn’t garbage either. Besides the Alt game where the team thought the game was over at halftime, the Packer’s haven’t given up more than 21 points in any game since the saints game.

Seattle’s defense has been great since they lost to KC. What great or even good offense have they face? Eagles where probably the best offense they face in that time.

The Packers have an advantage of already losing to Seattle. They won’t try again what failed them the first time. Seattle runs a basic defense. The Packers don’t have to worry about different schemes or exotic blitzes.

The Packer’s defense will show up and the Packers win this game.

  28. My picks:
    Seattle 27, Green Bay 17
Defending Super Bowl champions Seahawks represent the NFC in Super Bowl XLIX for the second straight year

    New England 34, Indianapolis 28
Patriots represent the AFC in Super Bowl XLIX

  29. Andrew Luck could beat the Patriots…just seems to hard to ask of him at Gillett though. Brady Bunch 41 Colts 24.

  30. One of the Road Teams will pull an upset.

    Not sure which.

My team is not in it, but I would think any of the potential SB Matchups from the final four would be a real, real good one.

I still think Seattle goes on to win the whole thing, but I like them the least personally of all the teams left.

They are damn good though. They get their due, they are damn good!

  31. I am a Seahawks fan and I believe they are a very good, if not the best team, in football. But the Green Bay packers are no slouches. The Packers can beat anybody on any given Sunday. So I am expecting that a great game will be played. I am cheering for the Hawks but respecting the Pack!

    That being said:
The first game was not so great for the Packers. Some people say the Packers were not the same team. Can I also mention that neither were the Seahawks?

People say that the Hawks faced depleted teams this year. In the 6 games that ended the regular season they played 49ers twice and that team was returning many regulars from suspension and/or injury. Arizona was depleted and that really was a shame.
Fact is Hawks put up points. They beat who they needed to beat to get into the playoffs. Then they beat Carolina.

At some point it all evens out and the case becomes that the Seahawks on the day they won the game they played were the better team, no matter who they beat.

They have to beat the Packers and if they do that they need to beat either Indy or the Pats. If they do that, then what? Do we put an asterix next to the season and say it was a depleted season?

The Seahawks were not supposed to make the playoffs, then they were never going to get homefield through the playoffs, then they were not supposed to win a game in the playoffs. At 3-3 everybody wrote them off. Even I thought that it would be a hard road to make the playoffs looking at the end of season schedule. But they won out and here they are.

The point is they did what they needed to do. I hope they keep doing it until the final whistle of the Superbowl this year in Arizona.

I don’t live in Seattle anymore, (unfortunately) but our fans are nice people. We have a few dunderheads as anybody does, but Seahawks fans are NOT, as a rule, arrogant. They are enjoying the run is all.

    Go Hawks!

  32. In my lifetime as a proud Bostonian:

New England Patriots – 3 Super Bowls
Boston Bruins – 2 Stanley Cups
Boston Red Sox- 3 World Series
Boston Celtics – 6 World Championships

Basketball doesn’t count. Basketball never counts.

  33. In 2011 every talking head was saying that no one would beat the 15 and 1 Packers at home. This past Sunday I listened to two experts on ESPN radio explain how the Broncos and Cowboys were going to win.
One thing IS for sure. This Sunday, Packer, Sea Hawk, Colt, and Patriot fans get to watch one more game. Plus two team’s fan will get another game.
Then in 3 weeks, fans from a few other teams will start talking dynasties, again.

  34. Lets look at the offenses the BEST DEFENSE EVER has shut down in the past 3 months:

    Cards (x2)
    49ers (x2)
    Rams
    Eagles
    Panthers
Chiefs (wait, that was a loss)

Wow… those are some prestigious offenses there, it’s basically like playing Rodgers and Brady every week!

    30-24 Pack

  35. Based on the PFT picks, the two games are going to be boring and lopsided as hell. Hope not.

And it’s encouraging to see that even on the verge of the NFC Championship game, the Vikings remain in the hearts and minds of cheesers everywhere.

And I’m not sure that a team that has been in the playoffs that often is a good example of “losers.”

  38. Every single person I see talking about the Packers/Seahawks matchup points first to the Packers offense versus the Seahawks defense. That angle is completely incorrect.

In Week 1, Percy Harvin tormented the Packers, not Marshawn Lynch. He’s no longer in Seattle. Neither is Zach Miller, who also had a big game.

The Seahawks don’t have the offense to score more than 17 in this one. Green Bay gave up a total of 5 rushes over 20 yards all season….1 in Week 1 to Lynch. They may give up yards, but Seattle can’t score on them in this one.

Green Bay wins 23-17. Book it.

I am not a Seahwaks fan.

How is losing to Seattle an advantage?

You make it sound like Seattle is sitting there thinking “Gee, we beat them once. We don’t need to make changes, we’ll just do what we did before and win.” Do you really think it works that way? These are NFL teams and coaches. They will adjust and put in new wrinkles, just like the Packers will.

A lot of your arguments about teams that Seattle played could be spun towards GB as well. Pack beat a horrible Chicago team twice, a horrible Atlanta team (you infer the Pack quit when they thought they had the game wrapped up), a bad Vikings team, and an offensively inept Lions team. How is that any better? The Seahawks played the 49ers defense, the Rams defense and the Cardinals defense, all in the top 10. What good defense besides the Lions did the Packers play?

And finally, if GB keeps lining up Cobb in the backfield, wouldn’t the Seahwaks adjust and throw a corner on him instead of a LB ? I tend to think they would adjust somehow.

The Seahwaks play a different style of ball then most teams. They run it very effectively, kill clock, and don’t make mistakes on offense. Defensively, they wear you down and are the fastest defense in the league. Extremely physical too. Teams seem to hang close for awhile then it seems like they get that turnover or stop, get the ball back and score and kind of before you know it they are up 10 or 14 points. They do it every week.

It really sounds like you are underestimating the Seahawks just because they don’t have a flashy offense. That’s a bad mistake.

  40. As a fan of the Pack and also a realist, a victory at the Clink is an awful large task to pull off this weekend. GB is a very good team led by a great QB, but not yet a great team. And it will take the latter to pull off a trip to Glendale AZ in a couple of weeks. Reluctantly calling this one 27-17 Seahawks. Go Pack!

  41. Calm down, Packer fans. Nobody is saying your team isn’t good or doesn’t have a chance. Quit getting so defensive just because people are picking Seattle to win. It’s ok to admit that Seattle has a good team. And yes, your team has gotten better since week 1, we know. The Seahawks know. Everybody knows. Everybody. And whether you’re aware of it or not (seems that the majority of Pack fans are not), the Seahawks have gotten a lot better since then too. It should be a good game and as a Seahawk fan, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the Packers win. Best of luck to your team and if they win, they earned it. But man, enough with the defensive and insecure posts trying to convince everybody of the Packers greatness.

  42. Green Bay 28 – Seattle 14

Week one was week one. Green Bay can play in Seattle and win the game. It will be close for awhile, but when it turns into a game of who has the better quarterback, the better quarterback will carry their team to the win. Rodgers is way better than Wilson. Funny part is, some media types have stated this week that Wilson is a better quarterback. The media must get free drugs during the playoffs.

    Patriots 31 – Colts 21

Andrew Luck will be the difference maker in this game. A couple costly turnovers will leave the Colts wondering what could have been. Brady will be able to take advantage of some mismatches. The mismatches favor New England.

  43. Why start the game 12:00 Seatt time seems to favor GB Seatt won home field advantage with the best record .this is the earliest start time for Seatt T home ever just saying .

Montreal Canadiens – 12 Championships (and just like the Packers won 5 titles in only 7 yrs)
    Milwaukee Bucks – 1 title.
But no baseball titles, yet but who watches baseball?

  45. Huge Patriots fan here. But at the end of the day it will be the Patriots vs. Seattle in the Superbowl.

I will EAT my SHOE if the Patriots can manage to out muscle the Seahawks juggernaut. Just sayin…. 🙁

  46. The Pack can’t hang wit da Seahawks. Seattle will have da gimp on his back all day! Look for Aaron Rodgers to have his worst game of the year and Seahawks win by three touchdowns.

  47. Add 2 more media folks lining up two at a time to join the rest of the media on the Patriots’ Ark.

This is really getting embarrassing. It is abundantly clear that you guys have no blue chips.

Don’t get me wrong, I do think the Patriots will end up in the SB, but it would be at least nice if someone in the media would take a chance on the Colts.

I do think Seattle is a show in, I just don’t think the Packers are good enough on the road to win in Seattle. The Packers lost to the Bills for cryin’ out loud.

  48. Seattle wins by 10+

GB fans act as if Capt. Ahab is healthy and at home.

    Neither is the case.

And about the schedule, it’s hilarious that fans of the team who’s opponents have a decidedly losing record talks about others’ schedule.

Sorry GB, it would have been interesting with a healthy QB AND in GB, though Hawks still win.

But Rodgers is not healthy and it’s not in GB.every time in a NFCCG repeat from a regular season game, the winner in the reg season won the NFCCG.

    That continues.

This game time does give Green Bay an advantage; a 2 hour body clock advantage in athleticism and endurance over their Seattle counterparts.

Why start the game 12:00 Seatt time seems to favor GB Seatt won home field advantage with the best record .this is the earliest start time for Seatt T home ever just saying .
    ——————————-

Because Fox and CBS alternate time slots every year. last year the AFC was the early game and the NFC game was the late game

    any other complaints….???

  52. If Rodgers and Lacy play like they did last week, Green Bay takes this one. Sans turnovers, it’s likely to be a much lower scoring game than some are predicting; especially if it rains.

    Packers – 17
    Seahawks – 14

  53. Should be a good game, at least better than the beatdown in week 1. GB is better on Offense than they were in week one, but Seattle is better all around then they were in week won, when they won by 20. If Green bay somehow pulls this out, i will be on here giving them kudos and probably picking them to win it all.

    Seahawks 31
    Packers 20

  54. 1) Seahawks will be in for a surprise after playing that cupcake team last week.
    2) They won’t have the high of the ring ceremony like they did week one vs. the Packers.
    3) Packers are playing at a higher level than week one with Ha Ha getting more experience, Clay being moved around, and Hawk not on the field as much as he’s basically been replaced.
    4) Hopefully Lacy won’t get nocked out of the game.
    5) Receivers and timing have vastly improved.

The only issue is whether Rodgers can get the protection he had like last week.

  55. So say the Pats win. Is spygate still a thing? They arent doing it now. I am not so sure it helped anyways in that regular season game..I mean we all know every team did it right? Well thats what Cower Jimmy Johnson, Glanville, Bradshaw..thats what they said. But why believe them? Lets believe internet trolls. Anyways..if the Patriots win..what will be the excuse then? Even if they dont..to get to 6 superbowls fro Brady is one hell of a feat.

  56. As one of over 300,000 shareholders, I do own the Green Bay Packers. Some may see this as a waste of money on a stock with no dividend, BUT…it comes with the pride of ownership that only Packer fans have. We are the only publicly owned major sports franchise in the world, something no other fan base will ever know or can say. Packers may be underdogs this Sunday, but I think my team relishes that tag. The only question remaining to be answered is will Seattle be just be “a fart in the wind?”

  57. sweetnlow44 says:Jan 16, 2015 11:59 AM

    //////////////////////////////
Respectfully, you are wrong sweetnlow44. Lots of posters are saying the team is no good and the Packers don’t have a chance. We get bent out of shape because most of them are Viking fans or some other team’s fans and just like to rip the Packers. I’m a Packer fan and of course will rooting them on, but I think the Seahawks by 7 is about right. What is irritating is the “Packers suck” stuff when they are one of the 4 teams still playing. So yup, Seahawks are good, and better at home, so they are my pick, but Go Pack anyway!

  58. I would love for the Patriots to think it will be as easy to run on the Colts this time around. The return of a healthy Arthur Jones has solidified a Colts run D.

  59. The Seagulls are going down
    Green Bay 27
seagulls 14 and classless sherman can snivel until next season

Further cementing their place in the greatest all time teams and Defenses categories

You are no where near the greatest of all time.

    Signed,
    Steelers
    Cowboys
    Packers
    49ers
    Patriots

  61. Let’s see what’s different now from Week 1 in the Seattle-Green Bay matchup:

    Pack’s O-Line – much better and health
Pack’s Rookies – contributing significantly (Adams/R. Rodgers each with TDs last week)
Pack’s D – much better with Capers’ creativity
Pack’s Safety play – much better (not Seattle’s caliber, but playing well)
Eddie Lacy – healthy and ready

Seattle – lost Harvin, Mebane and Richardson
Seattle – rookie contributions – any??

What does this all mean? 29-22, Green Bay win for the ages!

  62. They both think they’re better than everybody else.

We are better than everyone else. Wait! The SEAHAWKS are better than everyone else.

    Go Hawks!

    SB repeat matchup?

    Oh wait…

  64. Congrats to all 4 teams remaining……

Looking forward to this Sunday and dreading the long two week wait for the SB, regardless who plays……

Hard to go against these picks and ultimate SB match-up of NE v. SEA with the way the teams have been playing. That said, a good argument can be made that any one of the four remaining teams can beat any of the other three……..I am hoping for the Seahawks to prevail and like their chances of repeating this season…..

    Go Hawks!

  65. Slow your roll Seahawk fans and Best Defense Ever talk…Last 7 opponents qbs in order
    1.Drew Stanton
    2.Colin Kaepernick
    3.Mark Sanchez
    4.Colin Kaepernick
    5.Ryan Lindley
    6.Shaun Hill
    7.Cam Newtown

LOL ……Beat Rodgers and/or Brady/Luck then maybe you can squawk til then pipe down !

    Go Pack…GO PATS !!!!!!

  66. usedjock – Enough Said
Do some research before you make iliterate assertations. The Seahawks defense has taken the best QB’s the NFL has to offer (Brady, Rogers, Peyton etc…) and made them look pedestrian. They have done it on pure skill not gimmicks while employing a simple cover defense. Only time will tell but if the core of this group stays together it can be scary good now and in the future.

  69. Would be endlessly entertaining to see the Seahawks D completely thrash New England. Like worse than they way they thrashed Manning last year.

Seriously, who wouldn’t love to see a 48-10 blowout of the Pats? Doubt something that lopsided is improbable because Seattle’s offense is a joke. But I would pay big bucks to see two Tom Brady pick-sixes in a Super Bowl.

Book it.
    ====================================
Marshawn Lynch ran for over 100 yards and 2 tds. He had more yardage than Percy. And Percy didn’t get in the endzone.

    Revisionist history much?

  71. Patriots 49 Colts 24 (I see Luck throwing a couple of picks in the game and the run game will return because the Colts front is not as strong as the Ravens their secondary is good but their front isn’t.)
Seahawks 31 Packers 17 (Lynch will gash the Packers defense as will Wilson with his running and Rodgers isn’t good in Seattle he will get beat up plus Lacy running well against the Hawks unless your name is Demarco Murray I don’t think so.)
Super Bowl 49: Patriots 27 Seahawks 20 I think Wilson makes a mistake and it will be the difference in the game. Seahawks defense is the best I’ve seen in a long time respect to them but I think the Pats offense can be mistake free against them.

  72. mrwalterisgod says:

Packers don’t have the defense to defend a power running attack, Russell Wilson’s scramble ability and the deep shots Seattle takes.
    ——————————————————
Apparently you haven’t watched the Packers since they moved Clay Matthews to middle linebacker.

  73. Ratsfoiledagain. And I would take Keenan Lewis, Patrick Peterson, Joe Haden, Vontae Davis, Darrelle Revis, Chris Harris, Leon Hall, Ladarius Webb, Xavier Rhodes all over OVERRATED Richard Sherman. At least all those names cover # 1 WRs the whole game and aren’t scared like Sherman to move around. Jarius Wright from Minnesota ate Sherman up. And so did T.Y. Hilton only reason you naive people think he’s the best CB is because of his self promotion (one thing he’s actually good at) and his big mouth. The media loves a guy like that. You Seattle fans should thank the architect who designed Century Link too for all that manufactured crowd noise. The 12th man ? Gimme a break, that’s gotta be the corniest gimmick in sports……

  74. Seattle mauls Green Bay.Look at the first game of the season,no Packer reciever averaged more than 10 yards a catch.Just like Denver in the Super Bowl, those 5and 6 yard routes wont be there. This game wont be close.Indy can beat the Patriots if they dont turn the ball over.

  75. First off, I am a life-long Packers fan and was brought up being respectful of every other team in the league – yes even the Bears and the Vikings. Making the other team look bad does not make your team look good.
Great comments above from NYNeal and GashMR.
I don’t follow the AFC so I don’t really have a qualified opinion about the Pats/Colts – may the best team win and represent their conference with honor.
I see the Green Bay/Seattle game coming down to the running game – all the other aspects match up and balance each other pretty well. I love Eddie Lacy and think he’s an awesome back, but Marshawn Lynch is a man among boys. He will be the difference-maker. If the Packers can stop him, the game may well be decided on who commits the most turnovers. If the Packers cannot stop him, it will be very tough for them to pull this one out.
Both teams overcame adversity and tough opponents this year and deserve to be in this game – it’ll be a good one.

    GoPackGo

  76. OK so the colts are playing in crappy ass new England, that’s OK odds are meant to be beat, they said we were supposed to get beat by the Bengals, and Denver and please sparee the excuses about manning being sick, hurt or constipated,he was fine anytime you hit him and frustrate him he can’t deal with it ,and don’t tell me his arm strength wasn’t there either because he over threw his guys by 10 yards or so what you saw was A typical of manning in the playoffs.OK now the pats offense ranked 10th ,indys offense ranked 1st ,pats defense ranked 15th,colts defense ranked6,pats special teams ranked last, colts ranked 1,pats weapons they have 4 on offense, colts weapons we have 8 ,the pats oline not good ,colts oline Ranked 5th ,OK now the. Fun stuff ,revis do you think he can keep up with ty Hilton ,do you want to see pic of Sherman trying to catch ty,OK I thought not ,final thoughts GO COLTS ,BLEED BLUE FOR LIFE
