The Patriots called up some defensive line depth for Sunday’s AFC title game vs. Indianapolis, promoting Joe Vellano from the practice squad on Saturday.
To make room for Vellano, the Patriots waived tight end Steve Maneri.
The club announced the roster moves this afternoon.
The 26-year-old Vellano has played 21 regular season games and two playoff games for New England in the last two seasons, making eight starts at defensive tackle and one start at defensive end.
Chris Jones, one of the Patriots’ contributors at defensive tackle and end, is listed as probable for Sunday with an elbow injury. He was limited in all three practices this week.
