Bears hire another former Broncos assistant

AP

John Fox brought offensive coordinator Adam Gase with him from Denver to Chicago and now the team has added another member of the 2014 Broncos offensive coaching staff to the ranks.

The Bears announced that they have hired Bo Hardegree as an offensive assistant. Hardegree was an offensive quality control coach in Denver in 2014, his first year as an NFL assistant.

Before making the move to Denver, Hardegree spent three years as a coaching intern on both sides of the ball at LSU. He was a graduate assistant at Duke for three years before that and played quarterback as well as tennis at the University of Tennessee during his collegiate career.

Hardegree joins Gase, special teams coordinator Jeff Rodgers, offensive line coach Dave Magazu and two others as assistants following Fox to Chicago for the 2015 season.

  1. Fox averages +5 wins when taking over any team. Bears had 10-6, 8-8, and 5-11 last 3 seasons. Add 5 wins and Bears are bound at greater than 70% playoff chances.

Intangibles are how well Cutler, Defense, and Special Teams can rebound.

    Chicago’s steak, is Denver’s hamburger.

The game has passed John Fox bye.

Also, if you think that Fox got us to the the SB, he sure cost us a chance against the ravens by leaving timeouts on the board.

If Fox got them to the SB, so did Jim Caldwell for the Colts.

Everyone knows Manning got Denver to the SuperBowl, But if you think Kubiak is going to get you close to a Super Bowl with or without Manning you have not been paying attention to Kubiak the Head Coach.
Even with a Manning you have to have coach to hold the personalities together.
If the Bears find a qb better than Cutler, they will be better off with Fox than Broncos with Kubiak.

Would rather be Chicago Broncos with Fox than Denver Texans with Kubiak.

  5. Honestly, why does it bother you bitter Bronco fans so much? When a HC switches teams his staff will follow, its a common occurrence. The fact that you guys keep complaining and crying about it is Hilarious.

You sound like those Lion’s fans complaining about their pathetic playoff loose because of one bunk PI play that had no impact on them winning or loosing that game. Everyone has to make excuses in the playoffs for why their team lost and Broncos fans need to make excuses because John Elway got hit in the head to much and let Fox and his staff go to Chicago. Have fun with Kubiak, 2-14 is his solid last performance as HC, I would be bitter if I was Broncos fan too.

  6. Washed up staff??? Let’s see Fox is coming off a Super Bowl appearance and back to back division titles. Vic Fangio – has had top 5 Defense last 3 years and a Super Bowl defense. Gase – OC for one of highest scoring offensives that was in Super Bowl last year. Also, was finalist for 3 other Head Coaching jobs and may have gotten the Bears job if Fox wasn’t available. Need I say more

Awful, horrendous assessment. Houston has never been to an AFC championship game, let alone a Super Bowl. Kubiak built that team from scratch and made it in to a Super Bowl contender w/ a bad QB.

Here’s what you have to look forward to Chicago: a mediocre head coach that can get you to the playoffs, but then is horribly out coached in the post season. He lost to Baltimore and Indy with SUPERIOR TALENT AT HOME! INEXCUSABLE. Then admits after Super Bowl he didn’t have team prepared for crowd noise and was out coached by a mile. Have fun with the first round playoff exits if you even make it.

  8. People forget or can’t see the difference that Kubiak built Houston from scratch. They’ve never won anything and he made them in to a Super Bowl contender. Kubiak comes to Denver and inherits a championship talented team built to win now. Last time Kubiak had this kind of talent on his team, he won back to back Super Bowls. Fox fell on his face at home twice against Baltimore and Indy teams with inferior talent.

  9. Peyton got them to the Super Bowl. When there fox and his weak coaching staff did not have them prepared. Bears fans are happy because they have no where to go but up. Denver wants the next level. Enjoy those Denver rejects Chicago lol

Fox took a team with SuperBowl aspirations to the Playoffs, whatever the reason they got out played Manning’s torn Quad may have had something to do with that.
Kubiak took a team with Super Bowl aspirations to 2-14 season. Team quit on him, then with a new coaching, very little change in personnel and Ryan Fitzpatrick, Ryan Mallet and Case Keenum as QB they went 9-7.
Think what you will but the Broncos will not sniff the Super Bowl with Kubiak as HC.

  11. Kubiak Built the Texans from Scratch?
In only 6 years he got them their first Division Crown and to the Playoffs. Has a 2 and 2 playoff records, both wins against the Bengals, who are awesome in the playoffs.

    Coaching Records:
John Fox 119-89 2 Super Bowl appearances
Gary Kubiak 61-64 2 PLAYOFF appearances.

As a Texans fan I am telling you the Broncos are not going to the Glory days.

  12. In all fairness Fox is probably screwed. Detroit is actually pretty good, the Vikings are getting better, and Aaron Rodgers isnt going anywhere. By the time the division winds up tilting in the bears favor Fox will have probably been fired. I think he’s a good coach and hope he has success but the deck is stacked against him in the NFC north for at least a few more years.

The Lions are way overrated, they had a cupcake schedule and barely won all their games (except that one Bears game, but who didn’t beat the Bears last year) The Lions will be revealed next year in the NFC North. No one is scared of the Vikings neither. The NFC North will be between the Bears and Packers as quickly as next season. Fox has a ton to work worth on offense and the defense will be much improved. Trestman wasn’t qualified to be HC and there was a ridiculous amount of wasted talent on the Bears last year. So you’re prediction, although very conservative, isn’t reality.

  14. I have said many time on this board that I don’t think Kubiak is the answer, but I KNOW John Fox wasn’t.

If I could have had my choice of candidates, I would have chosen Sexy Rexy. I wonder what he could have done with our defensive personnel.

Fox always struck me as a bit nonchalant about thing.

I wonder what Kubiak’s zone blocking scheme will do for the Denver running game.

Lastly, we all remember that Baltimore game. How do you not have your defense in Prevent Coverage for that play? How do you leave timeouts and time on the board and not give Manning a chance to let them get into FG range?

Kubiak might never win a Super Bowl, but I know for certain that Fox won’t.

I’ll take getting outcoached in the playoffs over the regular season dumpster fire we got last year

  16. Fox > Trestman. However, the sad thing is we fired a 10-6 coach because not making the playoffs was unacceptable. Now we are just hoping not to be a perennial embarrassment. Bears definitely took the safest route hiring Fox, but may or may not have taken the best route.

  17. Seems like a pretty good coaching staff, although there obviously will be considerable differences between the prior versus the new QB scenario.
