A pair of former Steelers linebackers will officially coach the club’s linebackers in 2015.

Pittsburgh has elevated Joey Porter to outside linebackers coach and Jerry Olsavsky to inside linebackers coach, the team said Friday.

Porter and Olsavsky were defensive assistants for Pittsburgh in 2014. Porter played outside linebacker for Pittsburgh from 1999 through 2006, while Olsavsky spent nine seasons as a Steelers inside linebacker (1989-1997). Olsavsky has been on the Steelers’ coaching staff since 2010, while Porter joined the staff last year.

The Steelers promoted linebackers coach Keith Butler to defensive coordinator earlier in the offseason.

  1. Can’t think of anything that would have made me happier. They were two of the most passionate players to suit up fot the Steelers, and it’s great to see them successfully redirecting their skills to coaching.

New coach Joey’s one of those high-character Steelers you’re always talking about, right? When he’s not getting into fights in casinos or getting shot and all, I mean.

  3. Steelers are already starting the march to their couches during next season’s playoffs.

Because a Ravens fan has room to be talking about what other teams’ players/staff do in casinos.

  5. So if his players act like he did on the field (totally out of control and as mile from their assignment) will he chew them out?

  6. One turd out, another turd in….Times are getting tough in PA.

    Go Cheaters!

A lot of hate for a team who just cheated their way through another superbowl. Hope you can live with the ****.
