During a Super Bowl-week appearance on PFT Live on NBC Sports Radio, Steelers cornerback Ike Taylor said he’d only leave Pittsburgh to play for defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau.  Now that LeBeau has landed in Tennessee, Taylor has reiterated in interest in following the Hall of Famer.

“If there’s anybody I would follow, it would be him and him only,” Taylor said Sunday regarding LeBeau on SiriusXM NFL Radio.

Taylor also reiterated that he’s indeed interested in playing football in 2015.  The options would seem to be at this point only two:  The Steelers and the Titans.

As Taylor also said on PFT Live, he’d also consider switching positions from cornerback to safety, if necessary.

Speaking of Taylor’s Super Bowl-week appearance on PFT Live, here’s the full interview, which is worth a few minutes of your first Sunday without NFL football since Labor Day weekend.

  1. Ive been up and down on the Ike24 roller coaster ride and im finally ready to get off… Thank you Ike for all your years of service… Im ready to watch you walk out of the doors… and take Cortez Allen with you… im POSITIVE Ike will be on TV for the years to come because he has a great personality for it!

  2. “As Taylor also said on PFT Live, he’d also consider switching positions from cornerback to safety, if necessary.”

Seeing as Taylor has been a bottom 20% corner for 3 years now, I’d say it’s a little late for that.

    You’re done. You’ve been done for a while…

  3. Only way I see keeping him is moving him to safety and dumping troy. But Will Allen does fine playing the traditional (non-troy) role, so Ike isn’t necessarily guaranteed that spot. Can’t play worse than chubby cheeks Mitchell. That dude is a bust

  4. By no means is this guy a run stuffing corner. So if he was going to move to safety shouldn’t he at least be able to catch the ball?

  5. YouEnvyTheSeahawks – why don’t you blame your defense for giving up a 75 yard TD run to Willie Parker for the longest run from scrimmage in SB history. Or for not stopping a WR from throwing a 40+ TD against you defense, or for allowing Big Ben to run for a TD. Stop making excuses and admit the better team won Seattle fans. I’d be more upset that your coach would not allow Lynch to finish this last SB out. What a stupid play call, arguably the best RB in the league and you throw from the one yard line…dumb!

  6. Ike – your name is Ike Taylor-Rooney not Ike Taylor-LeBeau. The hardest thing for athletes is knowing when it’s time. It’s time. You’ll always be a fan favorite but it’s time. It’s time.

  7. Of course he should follow LeBeau – I can’t see the Steelers being successful under this new DC, and why would he want to hang around with a team destined to finish 3rd in their division next year?

I’m not saying the Titans will win big next year, but I would bet they’ll have a better record than the Steelers.

  8. carloswlassiter, Steelers worst record in the past 11 seasons was 8-8. Don’t expect a huge drop off this year. Remember the guy who couldn’t cut it in Chicago with better weapons will be calling the plays in Baltimore, the factory of sadness continues, and Lewis & Dalton are still in Cincy. According to all the trolls the Steelers were going to finish last in the North with at best 6 wins. Did you forget already they finished first with 11 wins?

Of course it’s hard to predict anything before free agency and the draft.

  9. Steelers will supplant the Browns at the bottom of the AFC North within 2-3 years. Keep your chins up Brownies…

  10. Youenvytheseahawks doesn’t speak for all Hawks fans. While it was a tough loss, not unlike this last one, but there’s no saying we would have made the necessary plays. We lost it fair and square. Same with this last one. But we will be back. We are still a force to be reckoned with.

  11. Appreciated very much Dick LeBeau and also Ike. But Ike, you can follow him out the door, both are past their prime.

  12. Depart that sinking ship while you can

If that’s a sinking ship who won the division(the steelers of course), the ratbirds must be the titanic at the bottom of the ocean because their sitting next to the factory of sadness(the browns).

  13. I agree that Ike Taylor is not good. Why on Earth do the Steelers hang on to players who are not making a contribution. Loyalty is a fine thing. But when a player is stinking up the place, let him go.

  14. Ike Taylor, God bless him for his years of terrific play for the Steelers, couldn’t catch a cold.

A guy as talented as he was could’ve been an All-Pro IF ONLY he could catch a football. He would’ve had enough INTs to be considered for Canton.

Instead he’s talking about playing well beyond his years.

  15. You already played for Whisenpunt once, as the wheels were starting to come off. Do you really want to go through that again??

  16. Ike, in your early youth you were a slight bit above average..never more. You have really sucked now for the last 3 years. If you disagree then you are not honest. Just retire and bow out while some will sill remember the few great plays you made. This gangsta bandana pic makes you look the ultimate fool. Face facts…Le Beau and you are 3 years past your prime. It’s a shame posts are made here for such a non-matter.

  17. tinytoolalldrool, we Steeler fans are not throwing him under the bus because he could be an ex Steeler. He never could catch but when he was able to keep up and make plays that wasn’t an issue. His tackling has diminished, his speed has diminished, and he no longer makes plays. He may have leadership and lots of experience but not enough to keep him on the field. He can however make good use of his skills on the sidelines.

  18. “If that’s a sinking ship who won the division(the steelers of course), the ratbirds must be the titanic at the bottom of the ocean because their sitting next to the factory of sadness(the browns). ”

And what did your team do with that division title?

Went out and lost to a better team in the playoffs.

  19. And what did you do with the wild card spot you backed into?????? LOST as well……. only you are not the AFC North division champions! 😉

    _______________

Ike was a shutdown corner in his prime. Remember the year Chad Johnson was tearing it up? Not against Ike. He just never got the recognition or the Pro-Bowl stats because his hands were stone and he didnt have the INTs. OTOH, it meant he was affordable, since he couldnt get/demand top dollar.
