The price tag for soon-to-be free agent wide receiver Randall Cobb is $9 million a year.

That’s the word from Rob Demovsky of ESPN, who reports that Cobb is seeking an average of about $9 million a year, perhaps with a deal close to the four-year, $39 million contract extension the Packers gave teammate Jordy Nelson last year.

The Packers aren’t expected to franchise Cobb, and there have been no reports that a deal between the team and the player is close. That means there’s a good chance that Cobb will hit the open market and get to see what he’s worth.

Fortunately for Cobb, he’s hitting the market after his best season: Cobb had 91 catches for 1,287 yards and 12 touchdowns last season, all career highs. Either the Packers or some other team will pay a pretty penny for a receiver who can produce like that.
