Greg Hardy preparing to seek immediate reinstatement

AP

Adrian Peterson’s win in Judge David Doty’s courtroom today isn’t just a win for the Vikings running back.

Other players who were stuck in commissioner’s exempt limbo caught a break as well.

A league source tells PFT that Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy will seek immediate reinstatement, in time to become a free agent.

Hardy made $13.1 million, but played one game for the Panthers last year after domestic violence charges (which were later dismissed), and many teams were concerned about the possibility he’d be suspended upon signing any new deal.

The Panthers aren’t expected to pursue him regardless, but the possibility he might be eligible from day one will certainly help his market.

  1. Suck it Rog. ALL OF THAT NONSENSE last year over a misdeamenor anyway, and after all that witchhunting, the charges were dropped anyway. Goodell has no idea what he is doing. The NFL was just trying to save face from their incompetence.

  2. Thing is, Hardy actually has a stronger case for reinstatement than Peterson did because the case against him was less airtight.

  3. Charges dismissed….

Dismiss the punishment (oh wait, he’s already missed work time, plus pay.) This is why the NFL should let the justice system play out and render it’s verdict BEFORE they punish players with suspensions, etc.

So your saying that Arron Hernandez should still be playing while his trial plays its self out?

    Yeah, ok…

  5. I think many of the people on this board just want to hate Goodell (I don’t care for him myself) and actually don’t understand what is happening in this case.

Maybe I’m wrong, although I doubt it, but wasn’t Hardy convicted of two counts of domestic violence in 2014 and given a suspended sentence with probation?

His appeal case was dismissed because the lawyers couldn’t find the accuser. You know, after her cash settlement with Hardy.

But don’t let the facts get in the way of your witch hunt.

  6. Hardy had been convicted of the charges in a previous trial. The charges were only dismissed after he appealed for a jury trial and the accuser was paid off.

    Totally false

  8. In NC a judge trial is required before a jury trial and the judge only needs minimal evidence – like the fact they were together that night is pretty much all the evidence required to go to jury. Other facts support Hardy’s case to. I think he paid her off but just so it would go away not necessarily because of guilt. Jury trials are crazy.

  9. Beats woman up

pays her to not show up.. she can’t be found

    gone girl

yeah Goodell sucks.. we need to support these type of players.
