Report: Raiders suitors for Jermaine Gresham

AP

The Raiders are reportedly in play for one of the better free agent tight ends.

Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reports Oakland will be a suitor for Cincinnati’s Jermaine Gresham. Adam Caplan of ESPN also reports the Raiders “have interest” in Gresham, PFT’s 40th-ranked free agent.

The 26-year-old Gresham would strengthen the Raiders’ depth at tight end, thus bolstering their two-TE sets. Oakland has one dependable pass catcher at the position in Mychal Rivera.

Cleveland is also interested in Gresham, Yahoo! reported. The Browns’ top tight end, Jordan Cameron, is an unrestricted free agent.

The Bengals’ first-round pick in 2010, Gresham has caught 280 passes for 2,722 yards with 24 TDs in five NFL seasons.

  1. Jermaine Gresham’s typical stat line…

    3 catches for 18 yds
    1 TD
    2 drops
1 run out of bounds short of 1st down to avoid contact
1 drive killing personal foul penalty
    1 fumble

  2. He can’t get out of Cincy fast enough to suit me; he’s been a tremendous disappointment for his entire career here; every good thing he’s done has been offset by other periods of poor play, mistakes or just disappearing in games. I’m sure the Bengals will gladly move forward with Eifert and probably the kid from Stanford (who was their rookie fullback last year) in 2 TE sets

  3. Another player the raiders won’t get. They aren’t in play for ANYONE

That’s not too far off last year’s numbers.

  5. Raiders moto: Instead of getting the best let’s get the rest. Right Joe!?!

  6. Hes not much of an upgrade than Rivera. But atleast hes young and a better blocker at this point than Rivera. I guess no Julius Thomas.

  7. Every Bengal fan can tell u that this guy is a fumble and penalty machine…drops easy passes because he has this unorthodox backhanded catching style…faked injuries to get out of playing 2 important games (with Eifert a already on IR)…coaches don’t like him either…please leave Cincy

  8. Hands of stone, head just as hard……too many dropped passes and way too many penalties — if it’s not the Raiders someone will pay for a First Round pick with much Later Round talent.

  9. Seriously though I also think Gresham might benefit from better form. Someone needs to work on his catching technique, which is terrible. His biggest problems are all in his mind and he needs a personal psychologist pronto. I do think he can play and be an asset somewhere, just not Cincy.

  10. The Raiders are interesting in that they have a zillion in cap space but still end up overpaying the people they sign. Until they show Reggie McKenzie the door they might as well pay 60 million to my golden retriever because the end result is always the same.

  11. REGGIE NAPPING ON THE JOB AGAIN, WILL SOMEBODY WAKE THIS GUY UP , BEFORE ALL THE TOP FREE AGENTS ARE GONE,JUST LIKE LAST YEAR!

…And the Bengal stick it to the Raiders once again.

Yeah. Bernard and Fitzpatrick took the Bengals to the promised land. Ouch.

  13. Face it , until the Raiders get a new stadium, it’s going to be extremely difficult to land any of the top free agents.

  14. I second the Zack Miller request. I was upset when we let him go. I’ll take him coming off two bad ankles before a head case like Gresham.

  15. Yeah. Bernard and Fitzpatrick took the Bengals to the promised land. Ouch.

    ______________
I suppose you mean Kirkpatrick. Solid corner who will be starting this year. He would have started before but he was behind Newman, Hall, and Jones. Gio Bernard is an outstanding RB too.

But the Raiders lost two picks (and a coach to be named later) for Carson Palmer, who cried his way out of Oakland pretty quickly. So you got nothing and we got two solid players (and an OC)

  16. Not surprise the Raiders and Browns are potential suitors. Either team is a match made in heaven for Gresham. Disappointment paired with more disappointment

  17. For pass blocking he is ok but he needs to work on his fumbles and his hands he cant catch well i would rather have Cameron or thomas i think we should try to get two TE . Unless Ausberry can stay healthy its hard to find good TE that can block and catch

Browns & Bengals may have swapped wins in each other’s stadiums last season, but I’m sure that Bengals fans went home SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED after the perennial 1-and-outs got hammered on their home field by the Browns
