Torrey Smith finalizes his five-year deal with the 49ers

AP

Torrey Smith had already said his goodbyes to Baltimore.

Now he can officially say hello to San Francisco.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN (and PFT has confirmed), Smith has agreed to a five-year deal with the 49ers, which will pay him around $8 million per year.

This gives 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick the deep threat he needs, and now we’ll see if that’s a good thing or not.

It leaves the Ravens looking for more help at receiver, as they’re down to Steve Smith and a bunch of unproven kids, making it fortunate they have the extra draft picks.

    Those draft picks will be used on even more unproven kids.

  2. At this pace the Ravens will have the youngest starting roster in the history of the NFL – Flacco with 21 rookies.

  3. Hate to say it… but he’s not worth that money. Great person, though, and will help San Francisco get out of the rut they’re in.

  4. – Finally get a deep threat to match the strongest arm in the NFL : CHECK!

    – Kap learning from Kurt Warner the finer HOF things to do as a QB with unlimited potential: CHECK!

    – Signing Hardy, Browner and Drafting OL round 1: 99% CHECK!

    – Quest for Six trumping, the Pats lame “Strive for Five”: CHECK!

    Now if the 49ers could find a QB.

    Another ignorant fool!

    The best WR in the NFC West is now in San Fran. The young talent.. All the haters saying this team is going to implode know nothing about the NFL. How did the Houston Texans do last year? Give it up trolls. They have plenty of young depth to fill the holes.. get out of the basement children

  6. hahhahahaha

    Wow. This is rich.

    You took Baltimore’s trash and overpaid for it.

    Baltimore, a team with a 34yr old Steve Smith and nobody else, thought that Torrey Smith was frivolous….and Baalke signed him to Cobb/Julius Thomas money.

    As I am a 49er fan, I must say please shut up, and get real!!

  8. people are ignorantly saying the 49ers are imploding, however if you really look at it, the are letting some veterans go to get younger and cheaper. Team is transition from the players that got them to the superbowl. That would have happened with or without Harbaugh. They will be ok.

    The dude can only run one route. He is a hall of famer as a human being but he is nowhere near the football player.

    This could not be more accurate-
    a Ravens fan

  10. Good Luck Torrey. Hope you have great rest of your career and stay healthy. You won’t be winning as much as in baltimore but the weather is nicer.

  11. At this pace the Ravens will have the youngest starting roster in the history of the NFL – Flacco with 21 rookies.
    ~~~
    And they will still beat the Steelers.
  12. i cannot believe his agent was able to fleece some team for 8M a season. he literally runs go routes and draws PI penalties. good luck with that kaepernick
    ozzie probably heard that and was like yeah we arent even gonna make you an offer cause it would be insulting at this point
  13. Ok can we as Niners fans please stop with the who’s got it better crap! It was old after the first year…and right now to answer that question, Seahags have it better with a that Graham trade.
  14. Finally a receiver that can take the top off the defense now go get Hardy I can careless about winning with class the only class I care about is being with the steelers at 6 super bowls wins
  15. I’m pleased with the signing, it’s better than giving Crabtree 10M, I’m also ok with letting Iupati walk as he can’t pass block to save his life. I think this means SF drafts corner in rd 1 Now, look for Marcus Peters or Trae Waynes to come off the board at 15
  16. Don’t pay any attention the the haters from here in Baltimore. SF has signed a good receiver, and what a compliment to Boulden. That combo will really help Kaepernick.
    In addition, he is a great family man and terrific in the community
  17. I wonder what Flacco is going to do now. He doesn’t have his best jumpball wr anymore. Well maybe flacco can still throw his jumpballs to 5 9 smith. Huge blow to a not so good offense.
  18. Torrey is getting paid as a #1. He’s is a number 1 human but not a receiver. He is a poor route runner, but he can fly. I’m happy for him. SF- you got a guy who will be great in the clubhouse, great in the community and damned good on the field.
  19. Got are man! Mediocre crabtree is gone. I was his biggest fan until Sherman called him out and proved he was right
    Six inches deeper pass to Crabtree and 49ers win ’13 playoff, go on to win SB, and Sherman stays home. It is a game of inches.
  20. B-b-b-but Joe doesn’t cost us that much!
    Joe’s contract doesn’t cost us much! Really! Pretty please with a cherry on top, really!
    JOE DOESN’T COST US THAT MUCH!!!!
    WHERE ARE ALL OUR PLAYERS GOING????!!!!
    AAAGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. congratulations torrey on your deal and being able to once again line up with q. best wishes in san francisco, the team and fans are lucky to have a man of your talent and character.
    ravens fans will never forget your inspired performance vs. the patriots in week 3 of the 2012 season, you are a warrior.
