Dolphins sign Brice McCain, and some other guy is there too

AP

The Dolphins have signed a free agent.

And in other news, Ndamukong Suh is in the building, and is about to join him.

Agent David Canter tweeted out a picture of Steelers cornerback Brice McCain signing his deal with the Dolphins, but that’s about to be overshadowed by a much bigger transaction.

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is in the building per a photo posted to the team’s Twitter account, and is signing his gigantic contract at any moment now. Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald says the deal’s finally done, but the fact is, it has been for some time.

So let’s let Brice have a moment, shall we?

  1. Let me get this straight….

” He was one of the worst players in the league in 2013 ” and now he is signing a 5.5 million dollar contract, with 3 million guaranteed???

    What am I missing here……

  2. As a Steelers fan, I have to say that McCain looked much better than the higher paid corners on the team.

That’s not me praising McCain’s performance. It’s an indictment of how awful our secondary was last year.

  3. Everyone says that you can’t spend$20 million on a defensive player and win the super bowl, but I wonder if anyone sees the irony in that statement?

    Cough, cough the current champs…

  4. Hey, any day the Miami defense gets stronger, and Brady has to face Suh TWICE each year, that’s twice more opportunity to plant Brady face down on the turf.

    I approve of this message!

There’s a major difference between getting a player on a short-term rental at a high price and shelling out $60 million guaranteed over a 6-year contract that maxes out at over $100 million. I’m far from a Patriots fan, but they played the Revis situation perfectly.

  6. I suppose, but Revis got $20 million and they had enough to pay other players to win a super bowl.

It’s really more of a $60 million 3 year deal in reality I suspect.

But you are right, the situations are not identical

  7. His YouTube clips are embarrassing, as usual my fins are asleep at the wheel, slow as rocks, settle for subpar talent from losing teams. Why would they sign guys like Andre Johnson, tall strong and fast secondary players that could tackle Marshall McCoy Blount but I digress….. Oh, Larry Asante…. Naw…. He can shut it down…. To stout and good, let’s go for small cbs…..lmao

Um.. football knowledge, lack of gag green brain rot. That sums it up.

  9. “I suppose, but Revis got $20 million and they had enough to pay other players to win a super bowl.”

Wrong he did not get 20 mil last year, he got 12. He was due to make 20 this year with 5 mil of last year also counting towards the cap this year, a 25 mil cap hit which was why the Pats didn’t pick him up.

  10. “Hey, any day the Miami defense gets stronger, and Brady has to face Suh TWICE each year, that’s twice more opportunity to plant Brady face down on the turf.”

    Keep dreamin’

Suh last year had a grand total of 4 tackles, no sacks, no special plays and incurred 2 penalties when the Pats pounded the Lions 34-9.

Further more according to the Pats homer press the other day, he had 14 plays in which he went 1-on-1 with Dan Connelly and beat him a grand total of zero times.

Pats are not worried about Suh. Get him a little frustrated and upset and he plays stupid. And it doesn’t take much to get his childlike temper going.

  11. It’s all about business. We tried to whole spread the cash to get better and it failed. We paid wallace, Gibson , resigned Hartline , pain Wheeler and Ellerbe and finnegan and it all resulted in what? .500. Ofcourse you over pay players in free agency. It’s just the nature of the beast, but Suh is going to make that defense a lot better, ALOT BETTER. The Dolphins the past 2 years had about 5 games that they were in and lost by a FG or a td in the last seconds of the game. Suh is the most dominant Tackle since Sapp, and the most dominant Player we have had since Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. Plus I read that the dolphin have a plan in place to have a lot of cap space next year and that Suhs cap hit this year will only be over 4 million? Let’s go dolphins !!!!!! And hush about the money, it’s not my , or your money they are spending.

  12. You can’t buy a winning culture.
You can’t win with a losing culture.
Suh came from Detroit, he does not know how to change a culture.
Good luck. Love to see the Pat’s face real competition in their division. But …

  13. All it takes is one hit and Brady gets rocked to sleep. At 40 it’s a lot harder to come back from the blast the Suh is going to deliver. I can’t wait until the schedule comes out. The AFC East is about to be tilted. That sound you just heard is all of the air leaving Brady’s chest cavity.

  14. The bottom line is the Dolphins, Jets and Bills are doing something they have to do. To continue the same losing nonsense for the last decade is silly. Yes, their is risk pulling in a ton of new players or signing one great one to a ton of dough, but it guarantees the Patriots will have to earn their wins going forward. The AFC East is going to be a winning division again.

  15. The Loins (not a typo) will suck till he end of days as long as the incompetence of the Ford family runs the organization. With the most dead money on the cap in the NFL, ltting the best free agent of the year, their best defensive player in a decade walk and ZERO players from the 2011 and 2012 draft still on their roster, Martin Mayhew is the WORST GM since Millen!

    Pity the Lions fans
