Jordan Cameron heads back to the Browns

Tight end Jordan Cameron either didn’t like what he heard from the Dolphins or didn’t feel like waiting to see if the team struck a deal with Charles Clay because he’s headed back to Cleveland.

According to multiple reports, Cameron has agreed to a two-year, $15 million deal with the Browns after paying a visit to Miami this week. Reports earlier on Thursday had the Dolphins negotiating with Clay about a long-term deal that would remove the transition tag they used earlier this week while also meeting with Cameron, but they’ll no longer be able to play both hands at the same time.

Cameron suffered through a rough 2014 season as a shoulder injury slowed him early in the season and concussions knocked him out of the lineup later in the year. He wound up with just 24 catches for 424 yards and two touchdowns. Cameron was much more effective in 2013 while catching 80 passes for 917 yards and seven touchdowns and the Browns are presumably hoping that he can stay healthy enough to put up similar production this season.

Cameron’s return likely takes the Browns out of the race for Clay, which likely leaves him to sign a new deal with the Dolphins, sign an offer sheet with the Bills or play out the year on his transition tender.

    _____

Yes, I would presume they are.

  2. So much for the reports that he was ready to bolt… he prob only got 1 year deals on the market not to his liking.

  3. Clay would have been better choice, Jordan’s health issues are not positive….concussion!

  4. Dolphins may have checked medicine cabinet…not enough headache pills (and seriously not funny) for this move and decided, maybe not to take Browns head on with this move.

  5. Wait…but Jason LaConfora said that Cameron wanted out because of dysfunction in the Browns organization. Rule 1…Never listen to anything LaConfora says, or believe just the opposite.

  6. Tony Grossi also said Cameron would never resign with the Browns. Just shows these reporters don’t know any more than the average well informed fan. Throw a dart and hope you hit the mark!!

  7. Wrong. He is signing with the Dolphins now!! He never agreed. Sorry Browns. Hope you get Clay. Both players are good but I’ll take the extra 2 inches (Clay 6’3..Jordan 6’5)

  8. Jordan must have read the message boards from Cleveland fans talking about how he’s damaged goods.
You know, the same ones doing a 180 welcoming him back..

Good move Jordan, leave that mess behind..

  9. Myself, I like Cameron, he’s a really good tight end. However, in my opinion, I would have let him go….one good hit across the middle and he’s done. Too much money for that kinda risk. I felt the same about Bradford too. I still think they might know what they’re doing….(insert laughs here). Anyway, whatevs….
