The Broncos have made a move to bolster their offensive line.

Veteran guard Shelley Smith has agreed to terms on a two-year contract, the team announced.

Smith signed with the Dolphins a year ago and played in 11 games for them, starting three. He was released last week. Smith previously played for Broncos coach Gary Kubiak in Houston, so he knows the offensive system.

In Denver, Smith will compete with Ben Garland to start at left guard, filling in for the departed Orlando Franklin.

  1. Well I dunno about his game but I’m 100% positive Shelly’s roster photo won’t be nearly as good as Orlando Franklin’s.

    Dude was straight up scary.
    Always a highlight.
    It will be missed.

  2. Broncos Fans- this is a good value signing. He is a decent run blocker and pulls and traps well, but his pass protection could be better. He was lowest in penalties on our sad OLine. He is an average Starter and a great backup. Good luck Mr Smith

Orlando has those go-funny, Shaquille O’Neal eyes. Not a guy you want to bump shoulders with in a bar.

  4. The BRONCOS are putting together an awrsome free agency
The only problem I have had is that I dont think wr can afford ANY wr for more than 7 mill a season. DT is worth every dollar he makes but we are trying to win a championship…a couple of weeks ago when Andre Johnson became available for a trade I recomended that we trade DT and see what draft picks/players the Texans would give us in addition to Johnson wanting to rework his contract to free up cap room this year…then after FA arrived I suggested a backloaded 3 yr contract of 7 mill 7 mill and 11 mil for 3yrs 25 million that would have resulted in 5 mill cap space this season, in addition to giving us all we need to compliment Sanders, Latimer, Norwood, Fowler, Burse…with that extra 5 mill we could get one or two difference makers and maybe we get Texans 1st rnd pick this year…in the SB DT broke the SB wr record in a game we were destroyed in…we simply cant afford a 13-14+ million dollar wr
Other than tying our team down with that albatross and my personal disappointment that Manning would not take a better restructure for team to free up more room this year I am really happy with how much value we have added with so little cap room.
This draft has such excellent talent unless we totally screw up then we should also be able to get a couple of starters from our draft picks as well…looking good
