Chris Culliver and Perrish Cox played together in the 49ers secondary last season and their work caught the eye of the Redskins personnel department.

Cox visited with the team earlier this week and Jason LaCanfora of CBS Sports reports that Culliver will do the same. It’s the first visit that Culliver, No. 49 on our initial list of free agents and much higher on the list of players still available, has been reported to take since free agency opened on Tuesday.

Culliver had a solid year for the 49ers in 2014, making 45 tackles and intercepting four passes in 14 starts for the team that made him a third-round pick in 2011. It was just the comeback he needed after missing all of 2013 with a torn ACL as it showed he was both healthy and capable of holding down a full-time starting job after two years in sub packages.

The Redskins are definitely in the market for a cornerback as they also showed interest in Brandon Browner before he signed with the Saints on Thursday.
