Harvin isn’t backing out of deal with Bills

AP

The current free-agency cycle has featured plenty of backpedaling by players who agreed to deals and then didn’t sign them.  A source with knowledge of he situation tells PFT that receiver Percy Harvin won’t be the next one to do that.

Diana Marie Russini of NBC4 in Washington reported within the last hour that the 49ers could be making a run at Harvin.  Per the source, it’s “100 percent Bills,” and Harvin won’t be the latest guy to fail to follow through on an agreement.

The contract hasn’t been signed, but the language has been reviewed and both sides regard the deal to be done.  Soon, it officially will be done.  For now, it’s unofficially done — which is good enough for Harvin and the Bills.

  1. oh goodness .. please dont do it baalke! another headache is the last thing we need..

  2. Well duh….

Just the thought of having to face the LOB 2x a year gives the poor guy migraines.

Let’s see this is Harvins 4th team in 6? years. He’s solid.
    ———–

To be fair, one of those teams was the Vikings. They just barely count as an NFL team.

  4. I like that the AFC east is beefing up. It’s what’s needed in order to knock the pats off their pedestal.

    ——————————————————————

LMAO good luck with that…..when all is said and done..by December the bills and dolphins will be in a dead with the jets for last place in the AFC EAST. YOU simply don’t get it,,it’s not about brady,,nor BB,,nor GRONK….its about the TEAM…TEAM..TEAM

  5. Meh, I don’t think Jets gonna have to worry about the Bills.. Jets got 5x starting CBs this year…

Its Patriots that gotta be worried about the Bills, since they lost their 2x top CBs Revis and Browner..

  6. Harvin can display mad skills at times. At times he seems (as reported) as a head case. If a guy like Harvin won’t go to the Niners, what does it say about them and are they getting the message? Maybe next year we’ll wonder about the Bills not receiving messages.

Niners need to button up their Levi’s.

  7. can’t blame harvin, think he realized that cassell’s throwing him the ball.
hey bill fans, you guys win the offseason while my patriots will world titles.

  8. I want this season to start so bad as a Jet fan these games are gonna be awesome

and @patriottony the Bills and Jets are the teams that are challenging you for that AFC east title FOR SURE. You’re not going to just throw at will on us like you used to with the best CB in the NFL, Cromartie, and Skrine and you’re not running on that d-line either with LeGarette Blount LOL. And who’s gonna stop shady on your defensive line?

    Lets get those Pats, Bills

    – Jet fan

  9. I believe what is going on in buffalo is part of rex ryans master plan. stay with me here….rex is going to sign talented malcontents with the mantra to the team that its “us against the world” and “no one respects the buffalo bills” kinda theme. they have some really good players on the team already and i think this will be totally on rex to make it all work. personally i don`t think that works with today’s type player but the locals are excited about the changes. at the end of the day i think teams like the giants, steelers, ravens, packers way of doing things is more sound (i.e building thru the draft and being very careful paying free agents). we will see.

  10. Remember kids; you can’t spell PERCY HARVIN without CANCER! Well you can but you get the idea.

  11. I’m always amazed at how the media tries to take subtle jabs at teams like the Bills . As if they can’t or it’s impossible for that team to sign anyone. I remember not to long ago , the Patriots were the doormats and laughingstock of the NFL . Most of their fans , it seems , have forgotten that . Good ownership as well as catching lightning in a bottle with a QB late in the draft , finally got the franchise over the hump. I’m hoping and pulling for the same to happen to the Bills and for their fans . They seem to finally have ownership that seems commited to turning them around . Would love to see them get over the hump and silence their constant critics and I believe that they eventually will.

  12. Why would anyone add him???

He’s more of a cancer than Terrell Owens ever was!

Owens never had the number of fights or the lack of orthodox play that Harvin has had!!!

Hell, he’s such a cancer Terrell Owens was on 4 teams by age 35.

Percy isn’t even 30 years old yet!!!

  13. Also, who the hell is Diana Marie Russini???

Every report I’ve seen her write seems to be wrong!!!

I haven’t seen a writer be this wrong since Jason LaCanfora.

Oh yeah, both are from Washington … where Harvin definitely will not go.

  14. Long time Viking fan here. If Harvin gets his act together and stays healthy, it will be very exciting for Bills fans.

  15. Knock him all you want, but he’ll be the Bills #3 WR and will fill the void of Spiller quite nicely. I doubt it’s for a lot of money and I’m sure it’s incentive laden. I’m not worried about Harvin in the locker room with Rex Ryan and Greg Roman (opposed to Marrone and Hackett).

  16. Why would anyone, including Buffalo want Harvin???

He’s a bad locker room fit (go ask Baldwin & Tate) and not even a good football fit anymore!!

Matt Cassel already has a history of being known as a “Captain Checkdown.” He’s at least good at being that versus EJ. Why not just let Sammie Watkins play slot WR and take the check down throws?

You don’t need Harvin when you can run for 2500 yards with McCoy and Jackson and pass efficiently at 3000 yards.

No, you don’t get it. Arrogance comes before the fall. The Pats, with Brady and BB have dominated the AFC East for a decade and a half. During that time…. The Dolphins, Jets and Bills have been pretty hapless. The Dolphins are loading up their offense around a good young qb. The Jets may have issues with their qb position, but the return of Revis and Cromartie, paired with that front 7 are going to be a good defense and Buffalo…. well…. I don’t know how it will work out. As a Seahawk fan, I liked Greg Roman in SF, cause his offense was predictable. Matt Cassell isn’t exactly Tom Brady, but there isn’t a team in the NFL that has 3 more explosive offensive weapons than Sammy Watkins, Percy Harvin and LeSean McCoy. BTW… the Bills have a top 5 defense.

Are any of these teams ready to topple the Evil Empire? I don’t know, theres flaws on each of them. But there is absolutely no doubt that at this point in the offseason, all three of those teams have improved and the Patriots have weakened (Revis, Browner and Wilfork).

The gap IS closing. Should be a fun division.

  18. Smart move Percy.

The 49ers have NO chance of winning their division or, for that matter, of going to the playoffs this season.

  19. ATTENTION PATRIOTS FANS!! don’t even bother reading these articles anymore or looking at the comments….its THE SAME THING EACH YEAR…and we go out there and just dominate every year…just think next time: why am i putting myself through this? do i not have enough experience to know that were going to win the division this year anyway and still be the best team in the NFL…cmon guys let afc east fans get loud and rowdy all they want this time of year because this is the ONLY time they’ve been able to get excited every year for the past 15 years….we all know they wont be so excited and loud this december…thank you and have a nice day

my hawks would know about arrogance before the fall lol just look at shermans face in the Super Bowl

  21. With the loss of Revis alone, the Pats wouldn’t win the SB. Even with him, it was a miracle win, more of the Seahawks losing than the Pats winning. You know this, unless your lying to yourself. I remember when the local news guys called them the “Patsy’s”. Losing Wilfork will also hurt. Don’t tell me Belichek is happy about the Bills changes
Rex is his nemisis as it is. Now he has a monster defense and a great offense to think about. Time for us.

  22. Am I the only one noticing all the Pats fans posts are filled with sentences that are missing words? Or using double comma’s? Trying to emulate Gronk I see

  23. The patriots are one player away from a 500 club. The entire organization has ridden Brady’s coat-tails for over a decade. Once he is gone it is over. Belicheck is not a genius.

  24. Pats fans are funny. Just can’t cope with the tarnished reputation and the asterisks associated with the tainted titles. All those years of being outspent by and being doormats to the NY Yankess has really affected them. Now that terry pegula has 10x as much money as robert Kraft and doesn’t care about spending it will get the same experience in the NFL. Enjoy the next 10 years clinging to the past.

  27. He didn’t want to face the Seattle defense twice next season. Or, for that matter, the Cardinal and Ram defenses. Smart move considering his injury history.

Its amazing how good teams like Buffalo, Jets, and Arizona would be with a good QB.
    ————————————————————–
If those teams had a good QB he would be expensive and they wouldn’t be able to afford all the this talent around them.

  29. It might be the whiskey, but the comment about letting him room with Incognito on road games about killed me… but…

I think this is a good signing. I think Harvin will be more of a threat when he isn’t the “number one” receiver. Not even close to being a Bills fan, but I can’t wait to see how this team works next season.

Not sure how their season will go but I’m impressed with what the Bills have done.Good luck!

    —————————————————————-

Leave it to a Vikings fan to be impressed with free agent splashes to win off-season championships. I don’t mind the Bills, I hope they do well and that’s fine that the Bills are splashing around this off-season but you can’t buy championships. Your move Chip Kelly.

  31. You have to wonder, if the guy is so talented, why is this the 4th team in 2 years. I mean, if you can’t stick with the jets and their receiving corp, something’s amiss.

  32. Harvin will play 5 games, 2 early in the season (showing his top 10 player in the NFL talent, blah, blah, blah), then he’ll get hurt and return for the final 2 regular season games with limited production but one big play.
His team will then exit in the first round of the playoffs when he has 3 catches for 17 yards.

    -Calling you out, Percy.

  33. When will everyone realize, once and for all…

    It’s not a WR league…

    It’s not a CB league…

    It’s not a RB league………………

    It’s a Quarterback league!!!!!

The power rankings, division outcomes, and feel for who can win the SB will remain (mostly) the same. Barring an abduction of Tom Brady, the Patriots WILL finish 1st in the (now interesting!) AFC East, followed by the Bills, followed by the Dolphins, and no disrespect, followed by the Jets. The order is the exact same as last year. The only difference is, every team is a little closer to the Patriots now.

I’m man enough to admit that if Brady could replace any of those team’s QB’s, the power rankings would shift dramatically. Tannehill is nice, sort of, but unproven as of now as a big game winner and guy who can carry a team on his back.

That’s it. Oh, and losing Revis is a HUGE blow to the Pats repeating.

  34. When he is on, nobody in the nfl is better than him. Nobody. He is the best athlete in the league…when he is on the field…and getting the ball…those are two things that don’t happen often with him.

  35. It’s a huge blow when that’s the one piece you have to have to win it all. He absolutely made the difference this year. Changed what Belichick could allow others to focus on. It was plainly visible.

  36. The Bills pass rush is stellar and they didn’t blitz much last year. Wait til Rex gets them into some exotic blitzes. Brady and Tanny will get crushed. Geno? Fuggetaboutit!!!

  37. Who would want to go to that train wreck in Santa Clara? Well, maybe since Harvin is a wreck himself he would feel at home there.

  38. Let’s see this is Harvins 4th team in 6? years. He’s solid.
    —————
Technically, his 4th team in 4 years. It’s like The Bachelor, except it’s the same guy every season.

  39. Niners don’t need to sign another headache- we’ll be signing DHB with the 15th pick- keep talking about the Niners Goof or bad cause when you stop taking about the Niners is d when we need to dart to worry

    —————–

STOP IT! You’re killing me 😄

  41. As a Minnesota fan, this guy was marketed as an explosive talent that would be a threat at anytime in the NFL.

Reality is, his best years in MN were when Sidney Rice did the bulk of the work and was the biggest threat. When it was his turn to carry the primary receiver slot he had head aches that sidelined him, attitude issues and an underline injury that Seattle found out about after trading away part of their future.

Seattle, a team that could have used him as a threat to win the last superbowl decided he wasnt worth the trouble. The Jets signed him in a desperation move then decided he wasnt worth it. What does buffalo think they will do with him?

This guy will end up like Randy Moss, pissing away the prime of his career believing his own hype. What teams should be looking for is someone with Jerry Rice’s work ethic go out every day to prove you are the best.

At the end of Harvin’s career he will be lucky to even be mentioned as a possible Hall of Famer, more than likely we will read about how he blew all his millions and no one cares about the the man behind the Mc Donalds counter.

The Patriots have been winners pretty much since the mid 90’s. Hardly a doormat. The down years being a couple seasons under Pete Carrol. I will agree there was a good 15 year period when the Pats were bad, sometimes God awful. Sort of like the Bills have been. So if anyone has been doormats not too long ago, well, you figure it out. As for the Jets and Fins? Well if Lombardis from the 70’s mean recent success I suppose they are satisfied fans. Enjoy your spring Bills, Jets, and Fins fans because come next February you’ll still be looking for the answer to the Pats dynasty.

Big talk. Typical March garbage spewing from fans of perennial losers holding on to hope that maybe, just maybe this will be the year we don’t REALLY suck again. Just to remind you, there is this thing called a salary cap. You know, everyone has a limit. Also, just to remind you, Belichick and the Patriots are the unquestioned masters of the salary cap era. So make your big signings on high priced players. Meanwhile Belichick will once again take on useful players at a reasonable cost to do their job! You seriously think a Matt Cassel led team can overcome a Tom Brady led team?

  44. Pats have played in weak division for 10 years and still had to cheat to win Super Bowls. Bill and Tom are done now that afc east is upgraded and they will have to earn home field advantage in the playoffs. That’s assuming they even make the playoffs. Pats days are numbered. Can’t sign any players because everyone knows best days are behind them.

  45. Not that it matters, but before you type that Kraft has more money than Pegula, try using Google to verify it before you type something you have no clue about and call it fact.

There is no doubt that the Pats have been dominant in the salary cap era, but for some reason their fans think football started in the year 2000.

  46. It’s a darn shame Harvin is the headcase he is . He could easily be a hall of fame player. But as it is he’s headed for top 10 wasted talent list. Too bad.
