The Colts added one veteran linebacker already this offseason when they signed Trent Cole and they’re taking a meeting with another one on Monday.
Irving started the season as the middle linebacker for the Broncos in 2014 and did a good job against the run before a knee injury brought his season to an early end. He played in 46 games for Denver in a reserve role during his first three seasons.
The Colts have D’Qwell Jackson and Jerrell Freeman at inside linebacker, but they could stand to be a little stouter against the run than they were during the 2014 season. Irving would help them in that area as long and shouldn’t come with too high a price tag.
