Free-agent receiver Stevie Johnson soon won’t be a free agent any longer.

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the former Bills and 49ers receiver intends to pick between the Chargers and Patriots on Tuesday morning.

The source says the Jets received “heavy consideration,” but that Johnson feels good about San Diego and New England after visits on Friday and Monday, respectively.

Joining the Patriots would create even more AFC East intrigue, given that Johnson traditionally has had success against former Patriots and now Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. Johnson was cut last week by the 49ers, who acquired him via trade with the Bills last year.
