The Chargers have signed away a backup defensive lineman from a division rival.
San Diego has inked a two-year deal with Denver’s Mitch Unrein, the club said Wednesday.
The 27-year-old Unrein appeared in eight games as a reserve in 2014, notching one tackle. Overall, he played in 54 regular season contests in the last four season for the Broncos, making 49 stops (34 solo). He started three games in his Denver tenure: two at defensive tackle, one at nose tackle.
Unrein (6-4, 306) might best fit at defensive end in San Diego’s 3-4 scheme.
