The Dolphins huddled with the top unsigned wide receiver on Thursday.
San Francisco’s Michael Crabtree took a free agent visit to Miami, as did Seahawks reserve quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, the Dolphins announced this evening.
Crabtree, 27, hauled in 68 passes for 698 yards and four touchdowns for the 49ers last season. He is PFT’s highest-ranked unsigned free agent (No. 32 overall).
The Dolphins have overhauled their WR corps in the offseason, acquiring Saints wideout Kenny Stills while trading away Mike Wallace and releasing Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson. Crabtree would bolster their options on the outside.
Jackson, 31, has been a backup to Russell Wilson the last two seasons. The Dolphins’ top reserve passer, Matt Moore, is an unrestricted free agent.
In addition to confirming the visits, the Dolphins announced the signing of the Giants’ J.D. Walton, a 16-game starter at center in 2014. In Miami, Walton could back up Mike Pouncey while competing at guard, or he could play in the middle, allowing Pouncey to slide to guard if at all needed.
